If you download it from GitHub, you can use it as a portable application.

It can expand a single section of a folder tree fully in just one action and that can be useful if you are trying to reorganise your folders.
    - I have not yet found any other particular advantages to using it.
    - I have not managed to open Help from its Help menu but since the .chm file opens directly I am not particularly bothered.

I keep a copy of this on OneDrive, you never know when a support call might need file access and file explorer is messed up.

I was going to ask the same thing. I was reading about it and trying to work out if it did something that I couldn't already do in Explorer.

I've been playing with it quite a bit now and the benefit I first identified above remains the only one I have found.

Well, I downloaded it myself because it might come in handy when organising my music collection. I like how they have kept the original GUI. It's a cool little slice of history for sure.

    Hi there
why not download and create a Windows 3.11 (Windows for workgroups) Virtual Machine !!!! Probably a better idea than contaminating W10 with essentially really old software.

Better than This file manager though I think the original XTREE which ran under Ms Dos was actually fast, efficient etc even though it ran on MsDOS !!!

Personally if anybody is developing a file manager for Windows their time would be better spent in designing a system that would handle log path/directory/file/track names so you can have names longer than 266 chars.

If you use say RAID 0 (good for aggregating HDD's into multi volume arrays) on a NAS with 5TB of music you can get some long file names !!!!!!!! and all you see on Windows is the old 8.3 format if Windows can't handle the long file name

Note RAID 0 for speed as well -- but you need backup because if you lose any HDD in the array the whole array needs to be rebuilt again but with reliability of modern HDD's and the speed + being able to aggregate multiple HDD's into single arrays is worth the convenience over organising libraries over several volumes.

    Cheers

Because the benefit of this old software is so slight that it does not justify any additional effort.
