Just poking fun with ya. Not trying to be offensive. I guess it's like someone still driving a 1950's Edsel Ranger. Yeah, it'll get ya from point a to point b, but it's not as safe, economical or efficient as my Bimmer!

Ummm, I still have my original hotmail account from when I first started beta testing back in 1985 or so. I've pretty much used it exclusively as my Microsoft Account for Windows.xxx.
Wasn't 1985 that I first started using Hotmail, but it's been a long, long, long time. Even long term memory suffers with age.

Don't know nuttin' about the Edsel Ranger, but I do know about Hotmail. It was launched in 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in Mountain View, California. I was using it when Microsoft bought it in 1997 and it's been called many things since then, but above all, it's been as safe as any other email service. From HoTMail, to MSN Hotmail, to Windows Live Hotmail, I've never had it spammed, which is saying a lot.

In 2013, Hotmail was "taken over" by Outlook.com. What this means is that although there's still a someone@hotmail.com email address, it's a part of Outlook.com.

When all is said and done, my hotmail.com email address is just as safe as anyone else's outlook.com email address.

I have my trusty old MSN mail account. Is this what you guys call HotMail? I thought HotMail was a porn thing.

There's also word HotRod but that's not what you may think either.

Don't hold me to it, Rocky, since I've found that even my long term memory is no longer reliable . . .

I was on the beta of MSN, Outlook and several other apps way back then, and I'm not sure, but there may have been both an @msn.com and @HOTmail.com. I'm pretty sure, though, that at some point they were combined.

Had to change to normal start up from Fast. Intel video driver was not loading properly and everything was a weird mauve color
    on some start ups.

Went from Live Mail to Outlook. I did like Live Mail a lot.

As a test, put it back to Fast. Let it reboot and get weird. Leave on Fast, but when you shutdown, hold the shift key when clicking Shutdown. Let it sit 15 seconds or so. Power back up and see if it's normal, with the Fast enabled. Holding the Shift while Shutting Down bypasses the hiberfil.sys writing, as if it were not enabled.

With one minor caveat. The mail person does have to have the ability to actually put your mail in the correct mailbox where you live, and you hope some "passerby" doesn't just help themselves. And to put any package somewhere near the porch, not in the middle of the driveway in the rain. On a scale of 1 - 10, the mail service around here is hovering at around -5. Hope it's better in Iceland.
Beat me to it!!! It's a huge problem in America right now, with people stealing packages, and even mail from mailboxes. It's a wonder we never went to locked mailboxes. Seems like a common sense fix, but never have seen it implemented anywhere. The post person could have a master key, and we all have an issued key for the front of the box. And we all have personal keys for the rear. Would make things a lot more secure in my opinion.

Thanks, I'll try it out a few times.
