I can, but not for any positive reason. I.E. - the stupid trash at the top of the settings page! I've always wanted my email address exposed to anybody who walks by!

    There....minor venting complete!
What we all should have done, but probably didn't is create a new Microsoft account for use in logging into Windows 10, not use an existing E-mail account. It should be used only for logging into Windows 10 and nothing else. I think a lot of us did not really understand what it was when we first started using it, I know I didn't. Now that I do I have too many computers digital licenses tied to my Microsoft account which is also one of my E-mail accounts I use on a regular basis.

This should have been explained by Microsoft during the installation somehow. By now it's way to late.

Switch to local account, make new MS (anonymous) account and switch back to that new account. Didn't try myself (tempted though) but should work... Your Insider's history will be gone, probably..

I don't have either of those issues.

Nothing at the top of the Settings page, it looks just as before. And my email address is not on the lock screen. In addition, I also still have the setting that was introduced long ago to *not* display the email address on the lock screen. Settings --> Accounts --> Sign-in options:

But, there is one thing that I might be doing that most ppl aren't - I have enabled the need to press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL] every time before logging in....

VB = what? Only thing I can think of is Visual Basic, but obviously you can't mean that because it's written in C++ (and C).
I was basing my reference to VB (as in Visual Basic) from the OS as a whole, not just kernel and executable files. That's what I remember being at the forefront of older Windows, after the base layers were in C / C++.

Good link - shows more than a few mentioning the various programming languages that have gone into the development of Windows. Especially if you read the comments.

Lol - same, I've had mine since ... '97? Not too much after Micro$oft took it over.

What build are you on? The change to Settings is on the 19H1 build tree.

18323 - but is there more than one 18323?

It's in the first screenshot - but you might have replied when I was editing the post to add the screenshot....

Just looked at the second post - Brink's screenshot of Winver is the same as mine, too.

Ah ha. I'm at 18317.1000 which has the changed Settings page. Install of 18323.1000 failed and I didn't even notice. Trying it again. Looks like 18323 removed the Settings crud perhaps? If so that's a good thing.

But this whole thread is for 18323 - so why are some of those users seeing ... wait.

If the Insiders followed the upgrade path from 18312 --> 18317 --> 18323, and you say the change was exhibited in 18317, then that problem from 1831 might have rolled over to 18323.

I, however, went from 18312 --> 18323 directly, thereby skipping 18317 (and thus never seeing that craziness).

Sadly enough, that might be the actual answer here....
