    I'm in the process of doing a clean install on my laptop. I used the UUPDownloader. It took around 30 minutes or so. Once Macrium Reflect finishes making the image I'll install my programs and finish setting it up. I did update using Windows Update but wanted to try doing a clean install.
    Hi there
    @Winuser

    That'll work I'm sure but even on clean install allow 2 or 3 re-boots before saying system is slow. There's als sorts of stuff built into windows that does various attempts at optimising and this can take quite a few re-boots before it all settles down.

    Most people get too quick with fingers o keyboard if first boot doesn't bring blinding improvement in speed etc -- have a little bit of patience.

    There are still defects with this build -- my aggro with the language one for starters but once the thing is installed properly it actually does seem a decent build (for an insider new test build).

    Cheers

    Hi there

    @CountMike

    why on earth do you even think of needing things like MBAM any more on current Windows systems -- it doesn't protect you against what is the bugbear of HOME computers -- SCAMMERS who want to make money via identity theft, fake websites, emails from dubious authorities offering you tax refunds, service people wanting you to switch payment to another Bank account etc etc. Basic old fashioned infecting HOME computers is so passe and last century (C20) when Windows was as leaky as a sieve. C21 name of the game is MAKE MONEY and just hacking is so last century and passe for home computers.

    WD works just fine on current builds of W10, is integrated at the heart of the OS and is updated almost daily.

    Your computer is more likely to burn out than catch Virus these days - even if using sites like those still flying the "Jolly Roger" - those sites also don't want a load of malware on their sites as bad reputations causes advertising revenues to shrink especially with lots of quite cheap legal steaming sites where previously unavailable content wasn't available.

    @Winuser

    From iso creation via UUPDUMP ( 4 mins download and iso create time) took less than 7 mins for install (update not clean install) on HP ENVY i5 laptop 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, INTEL MOBO / Graphics.

    Of course in our small country we do have advantage of almost fastest Internet connections on the planet -- 10Gb/s being rolled out currently !!).

    Cheers

    My MBAM is of free type and not resident. I run it every now and then together with few others as necessary, specially before making a full backup. WD is not as good finding PuPs. When I make a backup I want to be sure it's as clean as possible.

    Looks like I'm not going to be able to install 18323 at this point.

    I finished the update but when I tried to drag and drop the ISO from the UUP dir to the OneDrive folder it seems to have disappeared in the bit bucket. I will create another in a VM and will PM you a link to the ISO which you can download, mount, and run setup.exe. Someone will probably beat me to the punch because of this bug (I will install a third party copy program now). It will be OK Wynona.

    Thanks, Marty, but I'd already created a USB flash drive with Rufus (and gone to bed when a clean install didn't work either). So, this morning, I mounted the ISO I'd created, told it to install 18323, but leave my files and it just finished! Whew!

    I'm now on 18323!

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    Pups are again last century's thingey's -- these things are so last century (C20) -- I agree years ago these Pups were a real menace but today -- c'mon peeps get real.

    Even reading this article seems like delving into the reading room of a Museum.

    Worst Computer Virus 3: Sasser and Netsky | HowStuffWorks

    Very few people bother doing this sort of stuff any more on Home Computers -- why would they - there's Zero profit to be gained and also zero "peer Respect" or even "Street Cred" any more.

    Make a few 100's or 1000' s of Dollars then a different Ball game !!!

    cheers

    IMHO, MS should stop adding new feature to the Insider Builds and concentrate on fixing known bugs so that the Spring release is ready and not have a fiasco like they had in October. New features should start in the next Skip Ahead release.

    No need for 3rd party software. Format USB drive as fat32, and either mount ISO and copy all files to USB or extract ISO to USB drive. Now just boot from USB drive.
    Y'know, Fly By, that's what's so great about Windows; you can use what's most comfortable to you and I can use what's most comfortable to me.

    Yep, I prefer to use Rufus. Although, in this case, Windows wouldn't clean install. It just didn't matter that I had a bootable USB flash drive. It just would not work.

    Since I'd already created an ISO with Kari's most excellent UUP to ISO tutorial, ( UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files | Tutorials ), I just grabbed the ISO, mounted it and clicked on Setup.exe, chose to install Build 18323 but keep everything else and away it went.

    Although I expected the GSOD, it didn't happen this time and I'm now on Build 18323.

    Mine too, but so far, they're either too dark or too bright white. I'd like a soothing gray background.
    Just an FYI, it's easy to do. Go to Settings/Ease of Access/High Contrast and change the colors to whatever you like. If you want a light gray or dark gray background, you can apply it there.

    The list of fixes is much longer than for new things, I think they are doing just that.

    I installed 18323 on my test system at home last night. It took over an hour but there were no bumps during the install. Like others on this site, Malwarebytes Pro gave me an error that the anti-rootkits was not running. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and even used an older version with no luck. It runs but most of the functions will not enable.
