    Just installed on an ESXi 6.5 VM using my ISO and performance is great. Downloading the VM to my SSD and then I'll copy that to Ubuntu Disco. So far VMwre and VirtualBox are not compiling on Linux Kernel 5.0.9 but Gnome Boxes works. So I boot to either kernel 4.20 or 5.9.9 depending on my whim.

    Hi there

    @martyfelker

    Kernel 5.X !!!! --- I'm still using Kernel 3.X !!! Current one on most distros is I think now 4.2X so no suprise vmware and vbox won't work as they'll have wrong headers and versions as well as some kernel tools and a whole slew of gcc / glibc / other library incompatability.

    I think in any case kernel 5.0 is still beta and is actually 4.21renamed so I'm interested in what kernel you are running on your distros (uname -r should give it to you).

    Linux reaches the big five (point) oh • The Register

    Cheers

    Came home last night after midnight and let it download. Updated this morning by WU and it finished quickly and no fuss. ISO made and system checks passed. At restart it forced new Light theme and my old one was gone from the list but reloading it worked fine. MBAM balked when first time started but system restart fixed it. Run couple of benchmarks and they improved a bit.
    Top part of right click on Start menu still doesn't work but that's my old story. No idea what I did to it not to work. Made a backup and will experiment with it later on. It's happening only on this system so it's not endemic.

    This build took longer to install than previous builds. My laptop took a little over one hour. My desktop is only at 40% and it started at 6:27am.

    I installed this build yesterday and it is working very good except for Malwarebytes. I am still testing but I do not see any GSOD or anything else weird.

    Hi there
    Not sure what this "Unified ...." thingey is -- anybody care to explain in "SIMPLE ENGLISH" what the wretched thing means and why it's either a good idea or not a good idea to install it. Personally using UUPDUMP and creating ISO's I've never had any trouble installing any of these builds on quite a variety of hardware so AFAIK is this stuff just for unashamed geeks or is it actually necessary.

    @Rocky
    there really isn't any need for any extra Anti Virus Software on Home machines these days -- apart from the fact that the name of the game is SCAMMING, Identity theft, money fraud etc i.e making money - there isn't in C21 a lot of problem (for HOME computers - not WORK LAN's etc) with virus problems -- those old hackers have moved on - hacking "Mom and Pop" type of computers is passe for these guys - so C20 - nobody really bothers in C21 with wasting time on hacking consumer machine - and in any case unlike versions of Windows in C20 e.g W7 etc there's so much better protection built into the OS in any case and updated almost daily. Of course that's my view and YMMV but a lot of people are worrying over absolutely stuff that's hardly a problem any more.

    WD works just fine and is built right into the heart of the OS.

    Cheers

    You don't have much choice. It's the way Windows Update works now.
