I have a Biostar mini motherboard that I use for Linux and Chrome OS connected via hdmi to a Vizio TV. Just tried an install using 18290.1 iso and then updated to 18317.1. Insider was changed from slow to fast and after 3 tries 317 was available. I had to use my Win8 "key" to get it activated but, installed with 1 minor issue. When downloading was @ %100, it hung for quite awhile. I stopped the settings "app" and started it again and it immediately began installing. So far so good.
I've got both test machines running this build now (18317). The upgraded machine inherited and runs .NET 3.5 and 2.0 just fine. But I get errors in the clean-installed machine when trying to add that capability using Programs and Features/Add Windows feature, or when running the equivalent DISM command from PowerShell:Code:DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All
Anybody have any suggestions to attack this issue? Thanks in advance. Never ran into this before...

Have you tried installation with /LimitAccess switch which tells DISM not to connect to WU, installing NetFX from ISO instead?
Mount 18317 ISO and run following command, replacing X: with actual drive letter for mounted ISO:
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /source:X:\sources\sxs
Should work.

Thanks, Kari. Still researching using the /source option with /enable-feature /online. So far, it keeps blowing up. If I can't figure out how to make it work, I'll try the offline method next.
Best wishes,

Hopefully there should be a new build this evening as I am bored with this build.
Yeah this build is boring. So far it just works. So I'm starting to dust off some of my shareware to see if any breaks. One possibility so far but it to minor to mention and has to due with a very minor registration key import, which I worked around.
Oh dear. The new header in settings has just turned itself on. What a waste of space. Is there any way to change what is displayed there or to turn it off?
