Interesting how they (MS) decided it was time for Cortana to give up her Search Duties, and stick with suggestions of what ever she suggests. Split the two off into separate functions. Can even get the Cortana easily off the taskbar while leaving the Search Magnifier Glass.
    Maybe we'll retrograde back to

I think it maybe symbolizes the end of Microsoft's "Copy Apple" fetish that began with Ballmer's Windows 8, I hope... In that sense I cannot but view it as a positive...!

Thanks Wynona. I didn't know that had anything to do with 1903 (didn't know 1903 existed actually) as I already had reserved storage with 18312. Kari's explained it well for me though. I had 18312 and went direct to 18317 so the KB for 1903 was not needed.

    Thank you Kari.
I had no idea where I'd seen it, Trucker. I just knew I'd seen it somewhere. I actually stumbled across dalchina's post after the fact!

Don't think it's 1903 yet but it will be when it becomes release rather than pre-release.

Insider Fast ring builds have been preview builds for the next release of Windows since end of September - early October. In other words, we are already testing 1903 or 19H1, however you'd prefer to call it. The fact that winver still shows 1809 is in fact quite irrelevant, and will in quite near future change to 1903 (or 19H1).

Some updates are shown as update to 1903, some as update to Windows Next. However we call them, they are updates for 1903 / 19H1 preview builds.

Well 19H1 gives Microsoft more flexibility Kari as it could be released in 1906 and would still not be late

Got a kind of rude awakening this morning--booted to a black screen--well it actually showed the desktop for about two seconds, then went black--I tried opening the task manager--wouldn't open--then opened briefly--then back to black screen. I was just preparing to hit the reset switch when the machine rebooted itself--running fine, since. I'm guessing it has something to do with this build--which we already know is buggy because of what it is--but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has seen this with this build? 18317.
Could it have been doing a video card driver update?

Much happier with Microsoft and this build. Microsoft help female tech gave me a new product key to activate Windows based on the fact that I had a valid Windows 8.1 key. Good thing as I have at least 6 Windows VMs activated. I am happy with AOEMI Backupper Pro 4.6.1 Lifetime Upgrade which created a nice shortcut on the Desktop to do a System Update. Same with an Ubuntu Partition Backup and a Disk Backup. These are also scheduled (incremental backups). Debian,Kali, OpenSUSE Leap, Fedora and Ubuntu WSL. VMware WS 15. Virtualbox 6.0. Soptify,Netflix,Twitter, UWP (Facebook does NOT work). Nightly and Canary Browsers. Mail is fine. I'll be re-installing Office 365 Insider.

All in all I still prefer Ubuntu Disco but the gap is closing.

Finally got my Dell Venue Pro 11 7130 to Build 18317. Couldn't upgrade from 18305 to 18309, ...12 or ...17. Finally had to do a clean install. Worked like a charm. If all else fails...
    Sigh.
