    Hi there
on Linux there's a whole slew of decent programs that need a GUI -- nothing wrong in testing say something like Firefox -- I know you can run it on Windows --but surely that's the whole point of testing -- see if a known application behaves the same regardless of the underlying OS.

The fact people are asking these questions just seems to re-emphasize what I've thought for years -- the people today while having much more exposure to computers - haven't a basic clue on any sort of QA or proper testing scripts / scenarios. I know it's not the most glamorous parts of I.T but poor QA causes so many problems in the long run.

Anyway @martyfelker and others -- good luck for testing -- although I did do this type of stuff when WSL first came out. Actually some sentences in your post look a bit suspiciously like what I said quite a while ago when explaining how to load a KDE applications via KUBUNTU on to wsl.

Still enjoy and it is a bit of fun especially in these winter days - and it avoids being dragged to the shops !!!

    Cheers
    jimbo
Thanks @jimbo45. The nights are long this time of the year - especially since I may no get up until after noon. This is my hobby. Call me a nerd if you wish. I've been playing with these fool machines since 1962.

Why was it showing as an update for me? After 18317.1000 completed 1903 is gone and there is no record of it in Update history.
That update was for 18312. In your case, as the 18317 upgrade was offered at the same time, initialized, downloaded and installed, that update became obscure and unnecessary, therefore it was not installed.

Those two options appear for quite some time, at least in my case, in fact, I made some gifs using those features, this is one of them.

Speaking of the Photos app, one of the reasons why I have not made clean installations for a long time is precisely because, when doing a clean installation, you are automatically excluded from the "preview versions" of the apps, the button to access those "preview versions" doesn't appear because the "quota" is complete (I like to use those preview versions, I think it's an important part of being an insider and I have those versions for months). Some of the apps that have those preview versions are Photos, Skype, Calculator, Alarms & clock, etc.

Precisely when I saw this in the flight notes, I thought this was my opportunity to do a clean installation and stay with that installation (because from time to time I do clean installations to check bugs, but I don't conserve them for the reason mentioned above), unfortunately, the button to access those "preview versions" doesn't appear within the apps in this build in a clean installation either.

Another thing I noticed when doing a clean installation is that the navigation panel of the Start menu doesn't expand automatically, I suppose that is one of the features that Microsoft activates via server but I didn't stay long enough in that installation to check it.

    Here's a thread started by @dalchina.

Enable or Disable Reserved Storage for Windows Update in Windows 10 | Tutorials

And that's pretty much all I know about it.

Thanks Wynona. I didn't know that had anything to do with 1903 (didn't know 1903 existed actually) as I already had reserved storage with 18312. Kari's explained it well for me though. I had 18312 and went direct to 18317 so the KB for 1903 was not needed.

    Thank you Kari.

I remember those days... Younger--a lot more energy to burn--I handled a tri-booting Windows/OS2/Vistax64 machine at one time, when I wasn't working my extensive Amiga hardware...! Nothing wrong at all! Learning an OS like the back of your hand when it "suddenly" goes obsolete/belly up taught me a lesson, I guess. Just don't want to invest the time these days. But, more power to you--have fun...!

Got a kind of rude awakening this morning--booted to a black screen--well it actually showed the desktop for about two seconds, then went black--I tried opening the task manager--wouldn't open--then opened briefly--then back to black screen. I was just preparing to hit the reset switch when the machine rebooted itself--running fine, since. I'm guessing it has something to do with this build--which we already know is buggy because of what it is--but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has seen this with this build? 18317.
