I got something very similar, Marty. Did yours ever restart for you, or did you have to do a hard shutdown and reboot?

    Hi there @Wynona and @martyfelker

Worked fine for me on VMWARE on a Linux Host (Centos 7.6 with Linux upgraded kernel 4.18).
Tested also on another Linux Host using the Linux Hypervisor (KVM) and it also worked although Mouse and keyboard a bit dodgy -- I don't have much experience with KVM yet so I'm not marking that as a defect.

When I boot into Linux, which should only be a few minutes since my upload speed is now over 600 kb/s, I'm confident I can install it either from iso or dvd using Gnome-Boxes. You might want to install that on CentOS if you haven't already. I've found KVM a bit difficult to use.

It just works! (to loan nVidia quote)

Opened my VM today, and it was already upgraded.
Holy Cow! I must be blind...I'm still on build 18309. Offline phase does absolutely nothing for me. It does not even start, computer just reboots normally. Last time I had this issue I could only solve it by clean installing Windows.

    It just does NOT work!

For me, didn't work to update.
Several attempts using WU hung at 99% downloading.
Deleted Software distribution folder three times and restart but hung up again at 99% downloading.
Left it alone, hoping that will resume the download.
It's still at 99% after one hour and half.

I had a similar problem. I got around it by restoring the previous build 18308.1003 and upgrading from that directly to 18312.1001. So if you have a backup it may be worth trying.

Don't forget with CENTOS you can use kernel 4.18 / 4.20 now -- enable epel repo install the kernel-ml with all the headers etc

    as root : yum --enablerepo=elrepo-kernel -y swap kernel-* -- kernel-ml-*

Then VMWARE / VBOX or anything needing kernel headers / libraries will work just fine. I'd recommend upgrade to latest kernel 4 if using CENTOS.

No probs with Windows Guests on this system

    Hi there
    @martyfelker

I'm Using KDE on this system -- For VMWare one does need a GUI of course !!!!. KVM works fine too but need to play with that on another box -- fortunately I've got a few of those old PROLIANT micro servers around (3 actually - unpopulated apart from Mobo) rescued from an office when they were upgrading their hardware - they said I was welcome to "remove them" -- I've got enough old HDD's and DIMM's lying around too so useful test beds). With MDADM to get RAID 0 working even older HDD's can work with a bit of speed so really easy and fast to test stuff.

I didn't really like GNOME interface -- BTW going to test some of these Windows builds on RHEL 8 Enterprise server beta --- testing beta software on a beta !! should be an interesting exercise -- not much else to do this weekend - cold drizzly weather - not even any snow !!!.

    Cheers

It's not over until it's over. (Yogi Berra). Went through voodoo instructions on the stop error. May have to hard reset. In any event try try again. You can see what kind of life we have.

    Hi folks

Any remarks on Sandbox on this build -- improvements or "Business NOT as usual" !!!!

Difficult to test Sandbox as I'm already running this build as a VM.

Build does run as a VM in KVM on Linux box (just) !!! haven't tried messing about with adding external devices. The base system boots without GSOD -- at least that's a start on this build.

Can't yet post screenshot as this Linux system dosn't have a GUI and I need to access the VM via another laptop to get into the Windows GUI. Am using Laptop on another project currently.

Installed via the iso -- I rekon that's the best way rather than going through all the hoops etc that I see others doing when just going via WU.

    Cheers
