    Hi folks

seems now on 1803 I'm offered update to 1809 -- might as well go for it as it's on a VM. I think also you won't get offered the update if there's not enough disk space - not a problem for me

This update broke windows Hello for me! now it says windows hello not available on this computer and finger scan login is no longer available! this is the first time such thing happen on my laptop!

edit: installing latest Synaptics (Validity) Fingerprint Sensor Driver from HP didn't fix the problem!

Also have this error in device manager!
    Attachment 220390
No idea if it has anything to do with my problem!
I disabled the problematic device in device manager, then shut down the laptop, removed battery and cable and did a hard reset (keeping hp power button down for few secs) restarted the laptop and all was fixed! fingerprint works again and no problem in device manager. probably not a windows 10 problem!?

    Hi folks
Build 1809 has now been offered and installed on remaining systems I had build 1803 on. I think the only issue preventing the build from being offered was if there wasn't (in Windows's opinion) enough HDD space to install .

Remember it reserves also around 20GB or so for Windows.old which you can remove afterwards.

AFAIK the build 1803 is now officially dead - you'll probably still get WD updates or so. If you still haven't received the 1809 update check for available space including an amount for windows.old

Negative, I have 101 GB free on my drive, update not being offered to me, even when clicking "search for updates".

    Hi there

    @D4n
I was using W10 PRO so maybe problems still with WU for W10 HOME -- although not sure why you aren't being offered updates.

However if you want to do it manually then download and create the iso from UUPDUMP or any other proper site with Ms validated download.

Backup existing OS first before proceding as you can always restore if something breaks during update - use Macrium (Free) or similar for taking backup. Create the stand alone (bootable) restore media say on USB. You can use this as a bootable restore program if your computer gets hosed up during the update process.

After creating the iso (follow onscreen instructions) click in the iso file (W10 mounts automatically so you don't need to create a physical DVD) and run the setup.exe. Choose keep existing files and applications - this will then update rather than fresh clean install.

    UUPDUMP here :

No, 1803 is not officially dead until November 12, 2019. Up to then you will continue to get cumulative updates and security fixes for Home/Pro, while Education and Enterprise live on until November 10, 2020.

    Hi there

stand corrected - strange though I was offered the 1809 updates on 4 machines though - not identical hardware - I AMD processor, 2 INTEL 7's , 1 INTEL PENTIUM 4 (yes that old on a sony VAIO laptop - still works a treat but really heavy and a mega power consumer !!! good for testing with though).

Thank you, exactly what I also thought. The thing is, I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 back in the days when it was free, now maybe Microsoft doesn't offer 1809 to "upgraded" Win 10 machines yet, either that or it's because of my configuration with a WMR VR headset or because of the drives (I also have 1x M.2 PCIe SSD, maybe that's not that common yet amongst Win 10 users)?

    Hi there

all my Windows installations are fairly basic - just the base install with updates, office 2010 (VL version) and a couple of extras such as Photoshop / sky GO, Firefox so nothing untoward that Windows would see as an impediment to upgrading.

I did think that 1803 was dead but not so -- however you can update manually as I previously posted if you want - but do take backup first just in case it doesn't work properly.

Personally I've found nothing wrong with 1809 even Networking seems to be "reasonably" behaved - that must be a record for Windows !!!!.

    Cheers
