Microsoft Wants to Kill Passwords, Starting With Windows 10

Another bad idea from Microsoft. I like passwords - they keep the mind working, unlike "smart" phones.
For those interested, Gibson Research has a good page about password security:

The future will be in artificial intelligence. It will know it's you and it will always learn it's you. It will always be connected. It will remember your mouse patterns and know your routines. None will get access to your data unless they become you.

Amazing how a couple of periods can make a big difference.

Hi there
@
Bree
passwords are fine -- better might be a phrase.
I just hope they don't go in for these biological things -- I've seen too many gory Hollywood movies where eyes, fingers etc are removed to poodlefake the sensor devices to overcome the access. !!!
Phone access is also no good -- what happens if you are in a place with no signal - in any case why should one have to carry a mobile phone all the time -- I'd suggest one day a week away from mobile phones, facebook, twitter etc. And in any case why should I divulge my phone nr to any 3rd party.
Cheers
jimbo
I do not have a smart phone.

All my Windows machines have got local accounts, so go figure. Yes, my mobile phone is also only for calling and a little WhatsApp.

I'm pretty sure you would have handed over your passwords if threatened with removing body parts, so the point is mute.

I'm pretty sure you would have handed over your passwords long before they started removing body parts.

One of the most effective method for cracking password is a three feet rubber hose, no need to remove body parts....
On the other hand, it's not very effective for biometric authentication....
