Word and all Office applications have option to adjust time between automatic work backup, set it for 5 minutes or less and you'd never loose much. It takes mi that long to think of a sentence. Many other important programs do same or even write to disk everything, all the time and all of that doesn't even have to be on same(system) disk.
I too love to live dangerously, but losing my data on purpose is not one of them. As a matter of fact I've been considering 100% Linux use for my work because it's so much more reliable and stable. These Windows updates are killing me, and I don't know what Windows does in the background every now and then, but the OS runs horribly at those times. Can't even type properly without missing a few character every now and then. It's the overall convenience that still keeps me bound to Windows. Without all these quirks, Windows would be near perfect for me, but these small issues are really killing me inside slowly but steadily.
Yeah, I know. We just have to remember that others are also reading these threads. To imply that it's perfectly fine to install a Beta build for production use or question someone who does not recommend this is the same as recommending it in my eyes.
Sure they do, and to my chagrin, they've also failed me a number of times. When the whole system goes down, there's sometimes nothing left, not even previously installed software, when it's restored. I've been beta testing Microsoft product since sometime around 1985, and during all that time, we beta testers have always been told . . . "This is beta software (now Insider Previews) and as such, should never be used for any work you can't afford to lose." Kinda paraphrased, but that's the gist of the beginning of every Microsoft beta I've ever participated in.
You do what you think necessary, but I will follow Microsoft's Insider Preview (beta) guidelines, which are never to use a beta system to do production work.
Windows 10 is long time out of beta stage, these builds are just extension to "normal" builds that seem to have as much troubles and problems. Many times bugs were fixed in insider builds before regular ones. Some new features, not available otherwise have been of help too. I bet many more regular windows crashed and burned than insider versions, specially late ones. Sure, some features may be half baked at the beginning but few month in and they become full and pretty usable (mostly).
