Wait...what? We can do this to permanently disable IE and prevent it from launching ever again? Is there any downside to doing this?
No down side. I don't think it gets removed entirely, just the links to it will be gone.

Thanks. On that note, way back I set Chrome to be my default browser, but any links & shortcuts created before that time still launch in IE. I haven't found a way around that, but I'm assuming disabling IE will force those old favorites to open in Chrome?

I'm certain that will be the case. All links to IE will be gone.

Correct. It just removes Internet Explorer as an available feature for all users.

I'd like to share my experiences with KB4483234 on 17134.472 (Pro-64).
After struggling with 13 (!) failed updates, I've decided to take action.
    1) Sfc could not continue after about 12%.
    2) DISM (Restorehealth) - failed after about 12% - The WOF driver encountered a corruption....
    3) Managed to get (next to impossible) a copy of 1803.iso to use as a repair source for corrupted files.
    4) Repeated DISM using the above - the same result as (2).
    5) Looked up DISM Log which sent me to CBS Log ... for clarification. Digging into it found the following lines:

2019-02-09 16:15:52, Info CBS Checking System Update Readiness.
    2019-02-09 16:15:52, Info CBS (p) CBS MUM Corrupt (n) Package_1454_for_KB4462919~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.5
2019-02-09 16:15:52, Info CBS Repair failed: Missing replacement mum/cat pair.
    2019-02-09 16:15:52, Info CBS (p) CBS MUM Corrupt (n) Package_1488_for_KB4462919~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.5
2019-02-09 16:15:52, Info CBS Repair failed: Missing replacement mum/cat pair.

    7) Seemed quite revealing. Could not find the KB in installed updates (hidden ?), so managed to
locate a stand alone in MS Catalog. Tried to run - The update is not suitable for this computer (!!)
    8) Finally, tried the stand alone KB4483232 (after running Brink's Reset.bat and totally disabling
Norton for 1 hr). This brought me to failure #14. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
