Thanks @Brink for keeping us posted. I have just downloaded KB4483235 on my second machine and it is working fine. I think this one is part of the "C" class of updates (third week of the month).

Like I mentioned in another thread to you, you are probably due for a repair install (in-place upgrade). It won't take long, and you have the advantage of keeping your data files as well as your installed apps. I think it is really worth a try. Oh! don't forget to backup first (system image). Cheers!
I am the process of resetting... If the problem was because of the a Windows problem, then it occurred at the same time on two different PCs.

OK download and install quick. Question is how do I know if SSU KB4470788 has been installed? I've looked in all the places I know.

Control Panel > Program & Features > View Installed Updates (in the left pane Under Control Panel). The thing is that they are not coined by the name of SSU, but by the name of Security Update for Microsoft Windows. I think the LSU was KB4470788.

Thanks, I'd forgot about that window, and sure enough there it is from 12/05/2018. Should have known, but … Appreciate your time @IronZorg89.

    Done. Quick and painless.

Now if they can also fix all the other problems....
I just noticed a few.... more:
    1. Word 2016 (not Excel or any other Office 2016 app) does not save files, if Acrobat PDFMaker COM add-in is enabled. At least for that there is a workaround
    2. The PDF printer does not honor the "View Adobe PDF results" setting, i.e. does not open PDF after printing is complete.
    3. HP LaserJet Service crashes 5-10 times a day!
