Shawn, I've received the notices for cumulative updates on 17763.194 and 18305.1000, yet when I check for updates, I'm consistently told my machine is up to date. I have never used Internet Explorer on any Windows 10 machine I have. Could this be the reason I'm not getting these cumulative updates?

I've noticed that if you are set for "Skip Ahead" instead of only "Fast" ring, 18305.1003 wouldn't be available.

OK, that answers for Skippy, and when I looked at IE on the production side, IE wanted me to set it up. I refused.

Oh, Edge is really devious when it tries to keep you from making another PDF reader the default . . . It says the app isn't the default . . . wanna make it so? You say yes, and Edge wins; that is, until I busted it, then told it No!

I am set to FAST and for ACTIVE version and I have: 1809 18305-1003 12/20/2018

    ------------------------
    Windows 10 Insider Preview 18305.1000 (rs_prerelease)
    Successfully installed on ‎‎2018-‎12-‎20

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version NEXT (10.0.18305.1003) (KB4483214)
    Successfully installed on ‎‎2018-‎12-‎20
    -----------------------

P.S. I NEVER have used Edge or IE. I guess Edge is going 'chrome-ish' eh. Heh...still sticking with FF here :)

No one should be having any issues with Open Shell Menu either (4.4.131)....let me know if you do..

    Tnx

I have 2 pc's on fast ring. Both updated tp 18305.1000 on 12/19/2018. Today one of them downloaded the CU but has failed to complete the installation when it reaches 100% on 5 tries. The other PC shows there are no updates. I am not sure why i should be concerned about IE anyway, I have never used it on Windows 10.

    Update:

I used Macrium to restore the original 18305.1000 to the pc that wouldn't update because half of my start menu had been deleted. All was fine but overnight the update tried to install 3 more times, failing each time with code 0x800703f1. That appears to be a driver problem which points to my NIVIDIA card. I have the latest driver and it was no problem until I tried to install this update. The other pc is just as happy as it can be it has installed 3 anti-virus updates since yesterday. No attempt to update to KB4483214. Anyone have an idea.

    Update:

I used Wise Disk Cleaner and deleted the update from my pc. Now neither pc finds the update. Will just have to wait to see what happens next.

Actually, Tim, I'm running the 4.4.132 Beta on Insider. No issues there, it's fine.

I cannot for the life of me get Windows Sandbox to work. Virtualization is on in BIOS, I've enabled it through Windows Features and when I click on it in the Start Menu, it either does nothing, or shows the little splash screen for a while and then disappears. I did the WU upgrade from 18298.

    @f14tomcat and everyone else

Heheh...gotchya there....pretty sad when I don't have the latest installed eh? LOL

Last question for anyone having this issue (at least I still think most do):
The infamous 'I changed the Explorer column headings to "Name----size---type---date modded---owner' OR whatever you like and it keeps changing back to the default DESPITE having the 'apply all' setting activated AND (my case) have it modified within WinAero (such a wonderful utility) or directly via:
    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell
Has anyone really found a fool proof way to lock in the column settings. Yes I know it auto changes if you have external USB key or another Pictures/Music/etc media folder contents, however, shouldn't it be a permanent change for those of us who would like it to be?
