You triggered the download of 1809 by manually checking for updates, in the "Executive Summary" of the December updates it even states that now. The show/hide tool will only show 1809 when it is in your queue or "box" to be installed the next time Windows automatically checks for updates. If 1809 wasn't set to be installed on your machine you would not see it in the show/hide tool either before or after the attempted install. It will show up on wushowhide eventually and you will be able to block it, worked for me.

Thanks for the info. Ok then, I'll continue keeping an eye out for it with the wushowhide tool and meanwhile I'll refrain from manually checking for updates in general.

Ok this is what must have happen to me. I'm on the Home edition and I installed Group Policy a while back via a batch file and had 1809 blocked but --"You triggered the download of 1809 by manually checking for updates"

This must have triggered it because every so often i'll do a manual check. I'll just keep it installed.

At 10:13 AM EST, WU auto updated this CU and the MSRT (which failed). Still on v.1803.

How odd - at approx 15:30 GMT I had the same experience on my Win 10 HOME laptop. Second attempt at updating was successful.

At about the same time, one of my Win10 PRO desktop systems updated successfully first time around - now both on 1803 (OS Build 17134.471)

I did this update on the 11th, all appears to be well.
