    Hi folks

    if you have access to Linux systems (Free) OKULAR handles pdf's excellently if you want to avoid using the edge browser.

    I don't like edge at all -- however that's just my view. I'm still surprised though that IE is still a part of windows.

    What I really want on these builds are the following

    1) Decent software RAID (Windows spaces is a joke and breaks too easily).

    2) Proper logging type robust modern file system.

    3)Long directory+file names -- it's possible that internally windows can handle these but since nearly every application whether music player or office application uses a file browser - usually file explorer -- and this still has the file name length restriction.

    4) better removal of hardware - especially when device says busy and you can't find out what's using it.

    5) and please let's get networking right so it works 100% straight out of the box.

    I don't need "better collaborative workspaces", or social media apps -- I can always find those myself -- just get Windows to behave as a sensible modern OS.

    Cheers

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    I got out of retirement an old HP GEN 8 proliant microserver with intel Celeron CPU and nvidia graphics card.

    VMWare works fine on that system with this build so it seems if there's a problem with later Intel chips and the security module -- that old proliant server is too old to have that type of Intel software in its chipset.

    I need now for someone with an AMD CPU and RADEON graphics to see if VMWare fails. I also have a colleague who has an old but still very good INTEL XEON system where VMWARE works as well so it does seem to be a problem with security modules in newer chips --certainly INTEL ones.

    Cheers

    Both my desktops are AMD based, CPU and GPU, you can see them under My Computer. With last and this Skippy build which is only on this, Ryzen system, VMware player doesn't work properly, any attempt to mount an image fails with GSOD. I'm not sure about TPM version but doesn't seem to interfere with anything else and can't be disabled on this MB anyway so no way to check.

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    TPM also can't be disabled on some INTEL CPU's either -- VMWare works on those CPU's without TPM so it's I'm sure 100% in the TPM modules -- whether that's now INTEL + AMD + WINDOWS +VMWare to fix -- who knows

    What a mess !!!!

    Cheers

    Well. VMware worked fine before those 2 last Skippy boulds so my guess is that something changed in windows that VMware is not ready for. Some interactions with them like it happened with Macrium Reflect but MR blinked first and provided a fix.

    The keyword here being OS as in Operating System, not a garbage and bloat collection system.

    My 18298 has been fine up till just now when I ran an offline scan while My attention was drawn to my laptop.
    Upon restarting, the internet connection was dead and the pc was adamant that the cable is disconnected. Restarting a couple of times has not helped. There is nothing wrong with the internet connection as usual, as regular W10 works as does Ubuntu on the same pc.

    I would try setting a static ip in ipv4 settings in network connections properties, what your pc normally gets and the subnet and gateway of your router, It will restore internet and will work from there onwards.

    Oh, Edge is really devious when it tries to keep you from making another PDF reader the default . . . It says the app isn't the default . . . wanna make it so? You say yes, and Edge wins; that is, until I busted it, then told it No!
    That's what I'm talking about! Tell Edge who's in charge, and crack that whip!!!!

    There are some useful APPs there in the Store but not many. Despite that i like to have tiles and have mix of small, large and wide tiles and are mostly win32 applications/programs I use most. OK, tiles are mostly ugly but that doesn't detract from their usability.
    Yeah, I use several tiles, most of them small, but like having things right at the tip of my mouse...

    This is very interesting:

    Windows Sandbox is a new lightweight desktop environment tailored for safely running applications in isolation.

    In that blog, the build 18305 is mentioned, maybe that's the next build in the fast ring and the last one this year...
