    Ah! Thank you, Don! Since that announcement was concerning Windows 10 Production, I'm surprised they threw something that is (to me) specifically for Insiders:

    Note
    Because of minimal operations during the holidays and upcoming Western new year, there won’t be any preview releases for the month of December 2018. Monthly servicing will resume with the January 2019 security releases.
    Obviously, 1809 isn't a Preview Release!

    Or you could customize safely by installing an IPACK from deviantart, changing to a plethora of icons system-wide, It usually changes only two or three system files which are then restored and overwritten once windows upgrades take place.
    Never tried anything like that, ER. I'm a little too cautious sometimes.

    How about that for your system icons?

    I'm in agreement, smactilactus, except that I take the tiles off since they don't add anything. I think the Store is the least valuable app in Windows; who wants to pay for some of the apps that are free elsewhere? I can't remember which one it was now, but I declined.

    As to the icons, most of what I use is third party and has its own icons. . . which are just there. If need be, I can go in and change 'em to something else. I have special icons for my data and external drives. Other than that, I just leave 'em alone.
    Yeah, I've always thought the M$ Store was crap. But I'm not certain it's worse than Edge... Lol.

    Oh, Edge is really devious when it tries to keep you from making another PDF reader the default . . . It says the app isn't the default . . . wanna make it so? You say yes, and Edge wins; that is, until I busted it, then told it No!

    There are some useful APPs there in the Store but not many. Despite that i like to have tiles and have mix of small, large and wide tiles and are mostly win32 applications/programs I use most. OK, tiles are mostly ugly but that doesn't detract from their usability.

    Foxit reader set as default all by itself during installation and Edge didn't even try to take over.

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    I got out of retirement an old HP GEN 8 proliant microserver with intel Celeron CPU and nvidia graphics card.

    VMWare works fine on that system with this build so it seems if there's a problem with later Intel chips and the security module -- that old proliant server is too old to have that type of Intel software in its chipset.

    I need now for someone with an AMD CPU and RADEON graphics to see if VMWare fails. I also have a colleague who has an old but still very good INTEL XEON system where VMWARE works as well so it does seem to be a problem with security modules in newer chips --certainly INTEL ones.

    Cheers

    As far as I know, AMD cpus work fine with VMware, plus according to past experience, an MS fix could take a while to be released
