I’m having the same issue. :/
My surface Pro4 finally updated, but only after I ran Disk CleanUp, set to clean system files. I then used Shawn's "Reset WU" bat file. I also shut down Vipre AV and Malwarebytes. It seemed to be stuck on 'Working on updates 87%' for a long time, but eventually progressed. It also sat on the 'Welcome' screen for several minutes.
I have found that a second restart immediately after installing an update has benefits. The 'Welcome' screen was only up for a few seconds at that 2nd reboot.

Not seeing this myself, but doing two hyper-v scenarios myself--update does some bizarre things and omits important things last 4 - 5 builds.

Opened an ticket to M$ but I haven't great expectations for this...

Till now, can't find a way to make sound works.
Tried an old driver => no sound, removed the driver and search with WU => found an older driver and installed => no sound. Tried with troubleshooter => couldn't identify the problem. It shows me that "no audio device is installed"
When I search the path to the driver it shows me that is related to Intel display driver so installed an older one, tried the new beta one, tried the last official Intel one but nothing repairs my sound.
    So... reverting to 18290.
How did u revert back to 18290

Via Settings / update and security / recovery / go back to the previous version of windows / get started.
    And the sound is back.

In 18298 there is a problem with sound because the system obviously does not recognize the controllers and so a driver cannot be assigned to it.
Now waiting for M$ to make sound work again.

Sorry but I never used any pass.
I'm the only one that use this laptop so... I don't think that I need a password.

How strange! No problems here - anyone else reporting anything like this?
I had to roll back because of sound problems. I don't know if any of these problems existed, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Have had a struggle to get my old hp laptop to update. It continues to try. I’ve done all the tricks I know. May have to wind up doing a clean install. I’m on install attempt #7. Three other computers updated with the usual single failure then installing without problems and seemingly running without problems.

‘Laptop finally updated. All other computers have sound, this one has the sound issue—drivers have been replaced—-leave it to Microsoft to screw with sound drivers that work, replacing them with their generic drivers that don’t work!
    Sent note to feedback hub.
Did you get sound to work, @magilla? And if so, what did you do to make it work?

    Thanks in advance . . .

I was told there were no drivers installed, @emilcioran99! Using Device Manager, I told it to update drivers and it installed something but then told me again that no drivers were installed.
