I got a chuckle out of some of the comments on a Mac forum...
Run a Windows clone of Chrome on a Mac? Let me think about that one for a minute.
Ironic that going forward on Windows I'll be using a Chrome-based browser to install Chrome.

I'm glad Mozilla is not conceding, but it's going to be hard for them to compete now that the Chromium Project is backed by many big tech companies (Google, Intel, Microsoft, etc.).
It is open source code, there is no financial type backing. Chromium Source code will only improve EDGE in a way that MS programs it. It will not become the same as Chromium or Chrome. I will continue using Firefox for as long as it is available. I do not see it going away.

It does not take all that much time to change EDGE into a Chromium based Browser. It will probably be out with 19H1 or sooner.

If you use Windows 10 you are thought of as a Microsoft Edge Customer. But not all users of Windows 10 use Edge.

Open source means that anyone is free to modify the code and redistribute it; It doesn't mean companies can't contribute financially (or otherwise) to the code's development. Does Google not fund the development of Chromium? Are financial contributions not accepted?
But regardless if any of the backing is financial, if all the big tech companies put their support behind the same rendering engine, then they can effectively dictate web standards and make the web incompatible with other rendering engines.

I am quite aware of what Open source is . When Google is competing with MS with their Chromebook, and their method of operating , I will not use any product in Windows that Google has had a hand it. Google used to fund Mozilla and now Mozilla is free of their control and is much better now that it ever was. Read Google's Privacy stance and then Read Windows 10 EULA thoroughly and you may understand why MS is going this route. No one company will dictate web standards as that would be contrary to why The Internet was developed. When I first went online it was on a dial up to a local BBS which people used to share Data. Now the Net is so large that there is even talk about having two different Internets.
