I didn't update the KB4465065 and just using the unofficial bios provided by ASRock.

For my Broadwell-E 6900K CPU, after installing the update my BIOS still shows the microcode as ...02A rather than the specified ...02C. ANy idea what could cause this?
I'm not sure the BIOS is a reliable way of checking for the version. It started out showing 9A in my PC BIOS and is still showing that after I installed the update, although the new version for my CPU should be 96. Searching the Internet doesn't turn up any easy way to check for version without a 3rd party utility such as SiSoftware Sandra.

The BIOS will still always load the old microcode every time you turn on your computer, but Windows will then update it.

You can check the microcode update revision in the Windows Registry.

After installing the KB4465065 update, the OS just loads the new microcode at startup and keeps it on until you reboot. It doesn't upgrade your BIOS/UEFI microcode.
BIOS/UEFI updates are done via software provided by the manufacturer, only!

I have a netbook with Intel Atom x5-Z8350. Intel has released micro codes for it but Microsoft don't seem to use them.

What has been the feedback on this go-round? More degradation or is everything pretty much the same?

I've downloaded it but I'm not sure I want to install it.

    Intel Microcode Updates

Glad to see Micro$oft optionally incorporating Intel Microcode released back on 13 July 2018, nearly 7 Months! ago into Win 10.
    Well Done!
