I think the previous version of KB4023057 broke the Intel Speed Shift on my laptop. After waking up from sleep, the
cpu wouldn't go below 2Ghz (balanced plan) at idle. After applying the patch from november 15, it seems to function as usual.

I got the update kb4023057 via automatic Windows Update check today (on my HP laptop running 1803.17134.407), along with kb4477029 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player. The release notes at Microsoft (and quoted in the first post of this thread) seem to indicate the purpose of this update is to increase 'update reliability'.

I suspect they mean it will make my computer more 'reliably updateable' from Microsoft's point of view, rather than mine.

Besides the installed programs entry showing up in CCleaner tools, what symptoms of its presence should we look for?

    Hi,
Wow compressing files without prompts to do so that's nice :/
Sort of the same deal with auto achieving and compressing external drives.

Updated to add the "Microsoft Support notification" section in the first post for KB4023057.

I am now just seeing this update in the WU section. It's weird because my update history says it was successfully installed on 11-16-18, but then failed on 12-9-18. Huh? And now it wants to install again.

So should I let it try to install? I am currently on (OS Build 17134.407)

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi Gator. In my case, I got this KB4023057 on Nov 16 for the first time ever and then again on Dec 7. I think the second install is just an update of the first install, and more than likely it will continue to update as new versions of this KB are released. Personally, I dont like this install at all, but I let it install.

The way I found to stop sedlauncher.exe from bothering me is when it first runs, I let it run for a while, and then I reboot the computer. After reboot, sedlauncher dont run again the rest of the day.

Thanks. Since I posted, the 4023057 install failed on 12/9 and was successful on Dec 10. Then 471324 installed on 12/11 with some Office updates. So I think I am good for now. but it was very weird.
