    I had Insider builds ever since day one and it was built on W7, now it's first time that a had clean install and it's 1809 Skippy. I had it set so it doesn't offer driver updates but now they keep on coming. Worst part is that some like for AMD GPU it's actually retrograding them. Can't remember how I did it at that time.
    I can stop it by stopping all drivers download but that also stops automatic installation for new hardware which is not very cool as I often have to connect other HW.
    Right now it's sitting at this:

    Is there a way to stop it right now so it desn't actually "update" it ???

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    what happens if you go via control panel-->device manager scroll down the list to display adaptors and then update

    I had a similar thing with Intel -- the windows one was replaced with the intel one from the intel site and it hasn't been replaced via further windows updates.

    I'd imagine the same thing should happen with AMD.

    It never updates from Device manager, actually I never seen anything updates automatically from it. I'm letting it install GPU driver now just to see how old it would be. Last time when I did clean install, it installed v17.1, after a day or so it updated to 17.11 while list driver from AMD is 18.9.3 which I installed manually.Edit.
    It finished updating to 17.12. I'll run GPU benchmark but it's always lover that drivers straight from AMD. Also missing some functions like for instance limiting temperatures under overload and Gaming section doesn't have optimizations for some games like AMD driver has.

    Hi there
    @CountMike

    What I'm saying is you have to update it manually ONCE from the device manager via update as shown in my screen shot.

    After you've done the update Windows (at least on my system) never touches that driver again.
    If you get (unlikely) message -- Windows has determined the best driver is already installed -- just uninstall and then re-install from the AMD site.

    I checked DM before letting it update and it didn't offer it. Thought that it may be because my AMD driver wasn't WDDM but now it seems that it isn't the case as AMD driver 18.1 is WDDM.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ling-in-window still works for me on build 18282 . Show/hide updates.

    Just did some fast benchmarks and performance is crippled, 30% for 2D and 10% for 3D. Rolled back the driver from DM and have to reboot to see what it rolled back to. Probably 17.1. Edit. Yep, rolled back to 17.1 and offered 17.2. Now I have to use DDU and install proper drivers. Also stopped driver updates for now.

    Does not always work. Several of us have had problems with uupdump — very sporadic

    On all my VMs I have not had any issues with uuptoiso (ver 3) for making build iso so I haven't bother with uupdump.
    Thanks, Marty- I have no problem with uuptoiso either. Just wanted to be successful consistently with uupdump.

    That ain't going to work for what I use TV for, Jimbo. It has got to be simple for my client people to get me online!
    How TeamViewer works can't be implemented any simpler. Just click and run, exchange ID and password over phone and off you go.

    Umm, you got it mixed up. I was referring to the difficulty of the alternative suggested. I use TV for exactly the reason you describe!
