Current Status of Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809

Gonna leave the PC powered on tonight and tomorrow and see if anything happens.

I made the mistake of clicking "check for updates" last night abd it found the 1809 update...

Failed to install 3 times this morning with the "corrupt file" error code... so I deleted the contents of the Software Distribution Download folder and tried again... this time it did install..

AND more of a surprise to me it seems to have gone OK... Well I cannot see anything not working as yet...

Glad to see you finally got it installed and running ok.

SO glad lol... it is actually the first one that had no issues after .. usually one of the HP drivers..

As it is all working and I have Macrium I have deleted the window.old folder, but how do I get rid of this what is left?

On my wife's Asus laptop, i5 running Home, we regularly check for updates, nothing. I'm content to leave as is until WU is happy.

Our Asus tower i5 W10 Home also auto checks every day and gets no FUs. Will also wait for MS to decide when to offer the next FU to it. WU Auto Check get CUs just fine.

Have you tried rebooting? What about from a Command Prompt? Enter attrib C:\windows.old

Start Command Prompt as Administrator (Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator).



Then run this command:

RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%\Windows.old

If that did not work, then let me know. You might have files or folders with only DOS (8.3 length) names. This is a bit more involved, but is solvable.
