    Thought that was the case. Thanks for the confirmation.

    But, Option #2 in Shawn's Tutorial seems to be the way to do it with a .reg change. Neatly spelled out:

    Guys I noticed something in 1809.If I go on Task Manager and then on the tab "more details" there is no column named "description" like it used to be.Is this normal behaviour? Anyone one else seeing this ?

    Hahahaha! I told her specifically not to Shut Down, but she did it anyway. Of course, it didn't work, so she Restarted and that did the trick.

    Silly girl thinks she knows more'n her mama, but her mama knows how to follow 'structions!
    Here we say Mama knows everything! And that's true in most cases.

    That is, perhaps, one of the less useful columns on the Details tab - at least it's one I hardly ever looked at. But yes, having looked for it, I can confirm that it was visible in 1803 and not shown in 1809. CPU is the column I find most useful and the one I sort that tab by. The text in Description is taken from the Properties of the file name given in the Name column, so it could be seen as unnecessary extra information. You could read it by right-clicking on the name in the Name column and selecting Properties.

    But the Description column has not gone, it's just not shown by default now. There are an enormous number of other possible columns that are hidden. All, including Description, can be added or hidden as you wish. Just right-click on any column title and pick from the list, Description is in that list if you want it back.

    "good old fashioned OS" was DOS and UNIX, W7 is no more "Workhorse" than W10.
    Hi there

    @CountMike

    Modern Linux systems are very robust -- UBUNTU, OPENSUSE and CENTOS are all based on their parent companies Enterprise systems -- e.g CENTOS is source compatible with RED HAT's RHEL Enterprise server and supported by them. All these are free as well.

    The thing about Linux systems is that you can make them as mean and lean as you want, and if you need a GUI you can use any number of them.

    Personally I'm trying now to only have Windows as a VM since I'm not a gamer and there's only a few things I have to have windows for -- Office is still the best suite by far in spite of valiant attempts by other providers to copy it, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, some corporate applications and a VPN to access remote client sites. All this including photoshop can be done now easily on VM's.

    I really don't like the direction I see Windows going these days, I loathe the Store type of concept and I don't like an OS thinking it's on a large mobile phone which is what W10 seems to be going towards -- I thought Ms realized with the W8 fiasco that that type of OS wasn't what the consumer wanted.

    I'd like Ms to release a minimal Windows with almost nothing apart from the kernel and base GUI in it and let users install whatever else they needed. How can anybody call an OS a PRO version if it has things like bubblewitch saga etc on its desktop !!!!

    Have a version for that e.g a proper Home version and a genuine pro version with almost nothing installed other than basic GUI and kernel.

    Cheers

    Nothing here!? What is an "advanced user" or advanced by virtue of pressing "check for updates"?
