So does Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup without using safe mode.

It does work for me too on my older PC more than 12-year old Gateway DX4831, but not on my 3-year old HP envy. How to explain that? The problem is that I have not found a workaround for this error 6824 while surfing the web.

Bree, update or clean install of 1809?

Shift/Restart gets me a normal reboot, no Advanced Startup options.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup is the first problem real I've had with 1809. I'll try it again, now that it's co0mpleted successfully in Safe Mode. Sounds like there is a conflict with some process that doesn't run in Safe Mode.

Edit: Feedback hub now working for me too.

Ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup again and this time it completed immediately so I guess running it in Safe Mode resolved any problems, at least for now.

Updated from 1803, which was updated from 1709, which was.... etc. all the way back to Win7. It's my System One below.

I also have x86 1809 17763.168 (upgraded from clean install of 1803) on an Acer Aspire One D270 netbook with an Intel Atom N2600. Shift+Restart gives Advanced Startup on that too.

Edit: Dism's StartComponentCleanup works too (eventually, it's hardly a fast processor ).

I also had a problem with my Brother printer. The 1809 re-release installation put some strange files in the print queue and the printer wouldn't work until I deleted them. The same thing happened when I originally upgraded to 1809 back in October (I had later rolled back to 1803).
All my printers are Brother, and so far, all worked after update to 1809.

I had some and same problems with my HP Lj 1025 printer on both builds, regular and Skippy, resolved only by using universal HP printer driver. It's poor with options but works now. There are some 3rd party printer enhancing programs but it's enough that it works. Haven't tried my older ones HP Lj6 and Lj4M, don't have cartridges for them anyway. HP programs don't work since 1709.
HP is notorious for not upgrading some printers when a new version of Windows comes out. I'd check to be sure they're compatible before buying new cartridges. I had a brand new wide bed HP printer when Windows 7 came out and they wouldn't issue new drivers for it, so it was nothing more than a doorstop. That's when I stopped using HP printers, although I still use their computers.

There's a place here that refills/rebuilds cartridges much cheaper than buying.

For anyone who has a need for a printer but doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for ink cartridges, then a (very) few have refillable ink tanks. I have an Epson EcoTank and the drivers work fine in 1809.

I do most of my printing on my Brother MFC-L2705DW laser printer because I can use third party cartridges. I only use my Brother MFC-J6920DW wide bed inkjet printer when I absolutely need color. I can use third party cartridges on this one too, but they're not that much less expensive.

    Brink,
Will there be a new thread for released 1809 when mass WU release starts?
Too many threads lately ends up non topic related too tiresome to read all so not to miss something important...
