Current Status of Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809

Not sure if this is relevant here or not, but I've noticed that my branch readiness has been changed from non-targeted to targeted and I was given 1809 to install. The branch readiness was greyed out so I couldn't change it by normal means. I was using the gpedit method to change it, but it kept changing back every day. After a few days of fighting it, I finally gave up and let 1809 install. I checked my computer this morning and it's still set to targeted and it's still greyed out.

So... they took something complicated, that they made, and changed it completely around, just because? Seems par for the course for MS....

Beats me!. go figure! Some more changes are to come probably in the foreseeable future.

I tried 'checkin' for updates' and WU (windows update) still said I had the latest and greatest at 1803 so I thought what the heck and started the UA (upgrade assistant) so far after approx. 50" I'm at 87% complete with the reboot to follow.

I was away eating lunch and the best I can tell is it took between an hour and a half to two hours. I dunno, everything's working okay but it 'feels' slower.

There's been some minor changes like my settings windows in 1803, the windows were black but context menus were white. Now in 1809 the settings windows are still black but the context menus are that awful dark greasy chocolate brown.

Reminds me of opening a candy bar and it's covered with that whitish coating It's called Chocolate bloom the bars still okay to eat just doesn't look good.

It's amazing that at this point these people don't know that the WU configurations are different in the insider builds and in the public builds, those options to defer the updates will reappear when some build reaches the "RTM" status, it has always been like that, those options don't appear in the insider builds, the only one that appears is the option to pause updates for 35 days, but, as I explain in this comment, insider builds can only be paused for 7 days.

You certainly made a good point here, but I think the only surefire way to really find out is to check out 19H1 after installation. As "Martin Brinkmann" mentioned in his ghacks.net's article, according to what I understood, it is a possibility that the change will take place. It is like no one knows for sure.

The next feature update for Windows 10 will be released in the coming months. If things go as they look right now, Microsoft may remove advanced update options in the Pro edition of Windows 10 version 1903

The key word here is "may".

As I said before, it has always been this way, this is nothing new, those options don't appear in the insider builds and will reappear in the "RTM" build (as it has always happened), I am totally sure of that.
