Well, it isn't really, for example my corporate machine remains on 1709.
Mine is locked on 1803 and prohibits most updates to the OS.

No one more surprised than me that the whole process went smoothly, only taking 6 hours. (Gasp)
Was that counting from the time windows update first said it was available for the PC? Then it includes the time it took to download about 3GB of update files, which in turn depends on your broadband speed. The upgrade can't start until the download is complete.

A fairer way to asses the agility (or otherwise) of an aged Asus would be to time it from the restart that began the upgrade. 1 - 2 hours would be the expected range.

I think it's a 1.5GHz athelon.. the 6 hours was from the time I told it to go ahead. On about 7or 8 Mbs ADSL here. Anyway all good which is the main thing..

That makes sense, at those speeds about 4-5 hours of that would have be for the download, so not really a reflection on the speed of the PC. Sounds like the actual upgrade process, once it started, was quite quick.

I have several machines to upgrade, so I download the ISO once using the Media Creation Tool then use it many times to upgrade the machines. Saves time (and money, if your ISP has a download cap).

1809 was finally offered to me about a week ago. Downloaded and failed to install. KB40230557 installed yesterday and now no record of the failed 1809 install with it's error message/code. DISM /.... /check health shows no errors, sfc /scannow no errors, chkdsk no errors. I am thinking about downloading the complete 1809 from MS downloads using developer tools to get the WIM version or Heidoc(WIM also)and doing a clean install after two years of these CU's. I will of coarse do 2 full backups. I was unable to set up an account on MSDN to get the download there. Do any of these sites keep updated to current levels or will I be stuck with a bunch of updates to get current? Does MCT create a bootable USB drive? I always just save the ISO and the use Rufus to make a UEFI bootable flash drive. I have a 12gb/mo cap so I download these after 3AM during my freezone. Our county was just awarded a fiber optic grant but it will be some time before it gets to my house. Currently 12mbps theoretical download speed via satellite but rarely see much more than 2 on a real file. Thanks!

Way too many choices. I have an intel I7 6500u processor and x64 NTFS file system. OEM WIN 10 Home I want the full Win 10 1809 most current version if available. arm, amd, x64? CU or feature update? Greek to me and then it appears to be a compressed file. I do not want to have to convert to an ISO or an ESD to a WIM. I do not trust compression for a complete OS. Maybe I am a fool but after years of an OEM Win 8 desktop pc thru the updates to the bitter end I have little trust in MS. I upgraded it to WIN 10 Pro with a key from MS. I want a direct WIM download of the complete OS with all editions. This laptop is legit WIN 10 home that I want to upgrade to Pro with a key I will buy from MS. I will do a clean install.

You want AMD64. 17763.248 is the latest. 17763.348 is the latest. (Typo). Selected the right one below at least.

I am making the iso right now. If you like I can upload it to my OneDrive and send you a download link - PM me if you would like that.

But it is worth learning how to make an iso from UUPDump when you get the chance.

Looked at that one and went thru the process and it is a compressed file so I did not download it. I have a basic mistrust of compressed OS files. Are these ESD files or WIMs. I have converted ESD's to WIM's but why do so when you can download a WIM.
