My laptop that was blocked from updating to 1809 due to the Intel driver issue, just started updating to 1809 after manually searching for an update.
If the Intel driver blocking issue was still applicable to your machine you wouldn't have been offered 1809 when you checked for updates, so you should be good to go.

Note on upgrade blocks: ... If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we will not install the update until that issue is resolved, even if you “Check for updates”. We do this so that you avoid encountering any known problems.

I actually DO have an issue with it on my notebook (has an HDD, i5 3230M, 8GB): takes way longer to boot + unreliable task scheduler task-running (task manager not showing up by itself reliably anymore after logging in).

Those must be ones that turned updates right off.

Well, it isn't really, for example my corporate machine remains on 1709.

Yep, corporations are very slow when it comes to updates. Why fix something that ain't broken? ;-)

I wouldn't classify them as being slow, prudent is much better word to start with.

Lazy may be better word, they are missing on many security updates.
