    Hi there

2 identical HP laptops running same build -- one with only ENG installed, other with Eng and Isl.

The one running ENG only -- update offered and updated OK
The one with both ENG and ISL -- no update offered yet -- so went via the iso route for manual update. Updated OK but menus etc are in a complete mess - menus partly in ENG and partly in ISL whatever language I logged on with. Even the same context menus had a mixture !!!. so I restored that laptop.

Menus should appear correctly like this for example and not with about half the items in english.

Seems there's still some issues out there that this build needs to address.

Strange thing is when I tested the Skippy build on this laptop the langage proplem was non existent - languges displayed correctly according to the logon. (Other issues with skippy - but that's a different topic).

So I surmise that Ms is somehow determining whether the update will work on your machine before offering it. In any case I'd rather have a bit too much QA than not enough so I'll just wait and see what the next builds are -- can't be long as the insider ones expire in about 3 weeks.

To all US people on the boards --have a happy Turkey Day !! but don't spend all your money on the day after. !! Some of those sales aren't as good as they might seem to be - search online and you can probably find better deals on Amazon etc . a few days later when the mad scamble has died down.

    Cheers

Concur with the thanksgiving sentiment, but as to the Black Friday I just cut out the middleman and check out Amazon's own Black Friday and Cyber Monday Prime only offers which can give some "real" savings, for stuff that is really needed

New upgrade block added 21 November. This time it's apparently Intel who have QA issues (for a change).

Date Current Status Affected Platforms Details
November 21, 2018 2:00 PM PT Upgrade block in place
    • Windows 10, version 1809
    • Windows Server 2019
    • Windows Server, version 1809
Microsoft has identified issues with certain, new Intel display drivers. Intel inadvertently released versions of its display driver (versions 24.20.100.6344, 24.20.100.6345) to OEMs that accidentally turned on unsupported features in Windows.

After updating to Windows 10, version 1809, audio playback from a monitor or television connected to a PC via HDMI, USB-C, or a DisplayPort may not function correctly on devices with these drivers.

Workaround: To see if your device is affected and, if so, resolve the issue, see this Windows Forum post.

Next Steps: Microsoft is working with Intel to expire these display drivers, including coordinating with OEMs, and will provide an update on the resolution in an upcoming release.

    Hi there

    Thanks @Bree

Both my 2 HP laptops laptops do have Intel display drivers - and I did see display was operating weirdly on the one that I updated manually - I couldn't get decent colour calibration and base was far too bright on 1809 -- I'm currently reverting the other laptop as well back to 1803 as I want both on the same Windows version.

Seems a real dogs dinner getting this build released -- Shades of Steve Ballmer's legacy (previous CEO of Ms with that W8 fiasco) or the old saying "The Ghost in the Machine" !!.

Anyway especially appreciate the info. I donīt expect anything new until next week as itīs a holiday / long weekend in USA.

    Cheers
