I can kind of see why they didn't reduce width even more.
All the different sizes fit together mathematically.
Shrinking further would mean they would need to add a tiny horizontal scrollbar.

I think menu looks more balanced with tiles though.

Hint: do HHGTTG 6x9 in a different base to base 10.

PS - film was crap. Get the radio series and listen in a darkened room and let your imagination flow.

1809 updated September 2018 ISO's are now back up on My Visual Studio. Just a FYI for those with Subscriptions.

EDIT: Windows Server 2019 and Enterprise 2019 LTSC IOS's are back up too.

Current MS programmers grew up with touch screens & don't understand the 2-button mouse & usability of cascading menus. Same goes for 10 finger typing when all they know is 2 thumbs. Tiled menus allows for both touch & mouse but I still hate it.

The way I see the tile area, apart from the active tiles and inside folder thingy,
is just a launching place, no different than the taskbar, desktop. Just fancier.
If MS kills off icons on the taskbar, I would use the tiles more.

I only tried that Start10 as a trial along with a trial of Windowblinds.
They were fun times back in XP days.
I think skinning, in general, is slowly dying out.

If I had downloaded the mainstream Startisback,
I would probably be using that instead of Classic Shell.
My timing was off for I tried an earlier version of Startisback on Windows 8.
It had to borrow the correct matching 32/64 bit explorer files from a Windows 7 disk,
assemble it all together so it could work on Windows 8.
Did not work too well at that time.
The newer versions can do an awful lot, even Microsoft style skinning.

I will never use an products from Stardock . I would use Windows 10 as is before using their product.
