    My two cents FWIW:

I want an OS that works. I had it with Windows 7. I don't want another twist on Android with a whole lot of worthless "apps" (which we used to call PROGRAMS) and bloatware. KISS just gimmie something that works like Windows 7 did. When it was proven that Win8 was a failure MS should have just moved backward and prettied it up a little, maybe. I really dislike the store concept and the trash that's in it and I don't like all these games and worthless apps being forced on me when installing Windows 10.

Why not change Professional to a good old fashioned OS that works or create a new version called Windows 10 Workhorse!
"good old fashioned OS" was DOS and UNIX, W7 is no more "Workhorse" than W10.

Pardon me if there's a prior post by me on this subject; I just posted and don't see it.

Can anyone tell me the latest update to Build 17134? Daughter has 17134.471 updated sometime back in May 2018. Was this the last update?

She's having a problem with her sound jacked way up. This happened out of the blue . . .

She clicked on the sound icon to adjust, but there's no longer a slider so she can't adjust the sound. She has to go into Settings in order to tone the sound down.

This is her business machine, and she really needs to get this fixed, so thanks in advance for any help here.
that is latest 1803 built Wynora

Try troubleshooting sound in settings. Worth a try if you haven't already done so.

I have seen that occasionally. A Restart will get it back.

It has to be a Restart, not a Shut down. Only a Restart will perform a full start up from cold, Shut down will usually be using Fast Startup which can preserve such fault conditions.

Didja give me a new name, Dave? 'S OK, not a bad name at all.

Thanks for the info; much appreciated.

Looks like she may not have to troubleshoot if @Bree's info works. Thanks, though, that was next on the agenda when she gets through posting her APA (American Pool Association) stuff.

Thanks, Bree! As soon as she gets to a stopping point, she'll restart the machine. I'm betting you're right on the money.

A Restart has always worked for me (in W7 too) for this and a multitude of other 'odd' conditions that Windows can be prone to. It should always be the first thing to try before wasting time troubleshooting a 'non-problem'

Works if hiberfil.sys is running. I always disable hibernate running on SSD.
