    I'll try it a bit later when I have more time and report back. Thanks

    No go. I get the same error message after the installation gets to 100%. Then it reverts back to my current 1803 installation which is build 17134.407. I get the same error messages whether I try and install KB 4489868 or if I try to upgrade to 1809. I also downloaded the .iso files and try to run them after being mounted. I refuse to let the installer update drivers etc. Right after that the install fails saying that the installer is unable to check if my computer is able to run Windows 10. Weird since I am already running Windows 10. I am out of ideas at this point. A reformat and reinstall is out of the question. If that is my only option I will stay on 1803 build 17134.407. I have run every kind of check that I have found on the internet. All show my system as ok. I have run the Windows Updater Troubleshooter about 5 different time. It always shows an error and then says it's fixed. Then I get the same installation up to 100% and the error message that the updates can not be installed and my system will be reset back to what it was. Is it possible the problem is because I have Windows Telemetry blocked? If that's the case again I will stay with what I have.

    @ram1220,

    Maybe you have a valid reason to disable Telemetry for Win 10, what about enabling it for the time of the repair install and then disabling again after being successful in your approach. Before, I would suggest to :

    Generate System Diagnostics Report in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance:

    Generate System Diagnostics Report in Windows 10

    That should definitely give you an idea about what is the root cause of the problem preventing you from doing a successful in-place upgrade.

    My system is still using 1803. I just keep on forcibly stopping the update to 1809 since I'm only running Home edition.

    1809 is nothing to be frightened of. It's over five months into it's six month reign and quite stable now. Anyway, 1903 is just around the corner, what will you do then?

    And Microsoft has even chosen version 1809 to be their LTSC 2019 Enterprise version which has a "no upgrade" life of 3 years!

    I enabled telemetry and as soon as I did my system blue screened. Then would not boot up. Kept saying that Windows needed to be repaired but Windows could not repair itself. This is the first problem I have had with this computer in years. It was upgraded from Windows 7 back during the free Windows 10 offer. Right now I am restoring it from a backup I luckily made just 2 nights ago. When it's back up and running I will block updates and keep it on 1803 build 17134.407. So tired of dealing with this. Thanks for everyone's responses.

    Why? That sounds crazy. Just Upgrade and be done with it.
