    UPDATE:

    February 11, 2019 12:45 PM PST
Windows Update customers were recently affected by a network infrastructure event caused by an external DNS service provider’s global outage. A software update to the external provider’s DNS servers resulted in the distribution of corrupted DNS records that affected connectivity to the Windows Update service. The DNS records were restored by January 30, 2019 (00:10 UTC), but downstream effects continued. We believe the issue to be fully mitigated because the majority of local Internet Service Providers (ISP) have refreshed their DNS servers and customer services have been restored. If you are still encountering download failures, please contact your local ISP.
While this was not an issue with Microsoft’s services, we take any service disruption for our customers seriously. We will work with partners to better understand this so we can provide higher quality service in the future even across diverse global network providers.

Is that what was causing the slow downloads from WU/store?

OKay I just finished upgrading to Feature 1809 and it took about 2 hours to finish updating in total!
I forgot to mention that I don't really mind that Windows 10 took 2 hours to update... as long as it works I'm happy and it's been a week now since I upgraded and everything seems to be fine!

The last Windows 10 Pro 1803 (call it PC1) in my network had been updated to 1809 couple of days ego. The update in itself took about 30 minutes without any issues during the process. After the update has been completed, it's a different story. The update broke network sharing and the shared resources are no longer accessible from the other PCs, or for that matter locally on PC1 via network browsing.

There are four PCs networked together, using the same workgroup; other PCs had been updated to 1809 couple of month ego. All of the shared resources and application data bases reside on PC1. The update did not remove the shared resources, they remained with the same settings that worked in 1803, nor did it change NTFS permissions. I used Shawn's excellent tutorial for network sharing, everything was in place.

The resolution was to remove the shares and recreate with the same name and permissions. I am not certain why the update broke network sharing, but it's good to have it back...

Neither of my machines have been offered the 1809 update, yet! Still on 1803.
Might be a good thing I suppose. Less networking to restore!
Well I guess there will be 1903 at some point..................................
Going to do a clean install this time on one machine and then the other later.
I know 1809 is available from MS and Heidoc but will wait till just before the install for the latest edition.
I have to download it at night to beat my data cap(satellite IP).
I use Rufus to create bootable flash drives from downloaded WIM(my preference over ESD) files.

By Dark Theme, you mean File Explorer will have the same dark theme my Settings have?
