Could you guys please look at this thread over here? It's VERY relevant to this thread if I should update now or not.
SERIOUS PROBLEM: HDD Making Noise? - Windows 10 Forums
Thank you!
The offline (reboot) phase takes about the same amount of time. For some it's 10minutes while for others it's 45minutes and beyond. It all depends on your hardware and software configurations. A HDD certainly slows things down a lot.
Since your HDD was behaving oddly for you, now would be a good time to clone that drive to a new one, just in case it breaks. Once the damage is done, there's no going back. Hopefully it was just a temporary glitch.
I didn't know that about Chrome. I've been trying it out the last few days only because FF and 1809 don't get along very well for me. Maybe I'll try something else, then.
Not that I'll have to worry, since I have 24 GB RAM in this desktop. I upgraded from 8 GB to 16, then found I could still use the original 8 GB, so I went for it.
UPDATE:
"Current Status" table updated for Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809. See first post for more details.![]()
