Getting back to the original topic....Is this still omgoing? I have the watermark showing up every now and again, it was there 2 hrs ago but not now.
An appropriate typo: OMGoing, must have been a Freudian slip .

If you meant 'ongoing' then no, the activation server problem seems to have been fixed. I can use the command slmgr /ato successfully, returning the result "Licence Status: Licenced".

Oh, I guess I'll have to buy a license then. That returned as blocked. Mind you I've done OK as the license I had was from taking pics of the stickers in PC world!

For MS to blame it on "users who used the same ISO to install Windows on several machines"
They are digging the bottom of the barrel for excuses now. I smell a class action Lawsuit.

    Touché.

Saying that it's rather cheeky of M$ is a serious understatement.

But that is not what MS said. The exact quote from MS was that the same KEY may have been used on several machines, which is of course a violation of the EULA.

If you have one copy of Windows and installed it on more than one PC, activation might not work because the product key has already been used...

Thats if you know what the key is, especially if you had an OEM install - remember NO COA sticker.

Different for Retail versions then youv'e got the Email/packaging, and should be transferable.

If you have an OEM install then you have a digital licence stored on the activation servers linked to the hardware ID of the PC. There's no key as such, windows will have the generic key and activate from the digital licence.

Anyway, since Windows 8 the CoA has been superseded by embedding a key direct in the PC's firmware.

What went wrong on the 8th was that the activation servers 'lost' the activation for Pro.

So if I have one Key I can install and activate windows on several machines, using the very same key several times, but I shuold not; is it that what it means?
