I've has a look at Clear Linux, slicendice, as I'm considering changing a lower end APU laptop to Linux from WinX. Thanks for then heads up as never heard of it before.

Wonder if it will run on an AMD CPU system as it's just an OS?
Yes it will run as good on AMD as on Intel CPUs

Is it not Clear Linux more server oriented? I've yet to find something better than Ubuntu as a "Workstation".

On every site I go, the Linuxians are like vultures in a feeding frenzy as if MS was in its death throes but rumours of MS's death is greatly exaggerated.

MS will survive - I bet we will see a major reorganisation of the development team.

I predict Dona will be promoted sideways into the National Information Network Joint Alliance (NINJA) to work on the Training And Corporate Organisation (TACO) initiative.

Sure, but that's only for the optimized components from Intel. It's just like any Redhat-like distribution.

Either way, if switching to Linux, one must be prepared to get his/her hands dirty with some BASH magic. It does not matter which distribution you use. It's not Windows and never will be, so the culture shock can be quite overwhelming at first. If you want to make a customized desktop that resembles Windows, it will require a lot of work, package research, compiling, installing and configuration. No matter distribution, there's always something missing.
