It appears MS have just fixed their activation servers. I can now successfully run slmgr /ato on my test machine, previously it failed to activate.

No, it's stopped working again for me too. This is Microsoft's problem to fix at their activation servers, until they do we can only sit and wait....

    Same for me.
I had W10-1809 running since it was released, but yesterday it suddenly Crashed with no reason and went into the Recovery Mode in Loop, so I had to restore the 1803 Image I had.
Today, the Activation banner show up

Saw this thread this morning, checked and everything was ok. Had to go get my car emission tested this morning, came back to the Activate Windows thing on my desktop and everything else. Was going to test a new mod load on Fallout New Vegas, but now I am waiting for MS to unscrew my system. Everything works but I don't want to chance it, who knows what they will screw up next.

Plenty of tech writers slammed Microsoft's activation scheme as being bad for consumers when it was first announced. I guess they can come back and and say, 'I told you so' now.

There's no reason why anyone's machine should be deactivated after the installation has been verified. The constant monitoring is pure overreach.

Product ID (PID) and Product Key are two totally different things. PID is hardware specific, created when Windows is installed, and is only used for troubleshooting Windows and by MS support to identify the device.

It cannot be used in any way on other devices or by other users. It is totally safe to show it in screenshots, there's no way anyone could misuse it. I can show my device ID and PID, you have absolutely no way to use them in any way:

Thanks Kari, didn't know that. Still paranoid enough to not publish anything online though.

Same problem here with windows 10 pro, not activated anymore, didn't know it was a bug, so I rang Microsft tech help, confirmed my windows 8.1 pro upgrade key to him, that i had upgraded to 10 from.

The techie then told me it was a bug that would take a few days to sort out, but took remote control of my computer and fixed the activation, all in all he was very helpful.

I don't usually give anyone remote access to my computer, but do know its an official Microsoft numberI rang.

Quick question, Activation must be checked on a regular basis, else how do Microsoft know?
