Saw this post on the Microsoft community forum. It didn't fix the problem for me, but it might fix the issue for someone else here.Called Dell support this morning seen this issue. Here is a possible solution, worked for me on two Dell OptiPlex computers that came with Win 10 Pro.
In elevated CMD (right click, run as admin) type (or copy & paste):
wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
Press Enter, you should see your embedded electronic license key
Copy it and paste in the same command prompt after:
slmgr /ipk
So it will look like slmgr/ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX……
Again press enter and wait, in 10-20 seconds your Windows is back activated.
If it doesn’t work for you, just calm down and wait until MS resolves it. It’s not a critical issue and believes me they WILL fix it, they already started getting some bad press.
After running from Demonlord post : wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
I used that key in the Enter Product Key on activation page and it activated my Pro on my computer. I think it had somehow taken an old key from my old laptop (still in my M$ account) and put it on my active computer because the key was different. Anyway still activated so far.
it just happened to me, microsoft!?
Just now i did run the troubleshooter again and windows is activated now![]()
On my 3 systems I just ran the troubleshooter and it has now activated my Pro licenses.
