    50% are the control group. Any new feature has change 'noise' in feedback (some people will only vote for no change). If people who don't have the feature ask for it then that's better feedback than from those who are reluctant to feedback because they like a feature.

    So maybe you get a truer picture of people desiring the new feature. Or, being cynical, it halves any negative feedback
    I do not buy this argument I am afraid. The larger the user base, the more meaningful statistically are the replies.

    Statitistics have more meaning, the larger the sample size.

    That is why straw polls on this site generslly have no real meaning. It is generally regarded a sample size of 100 random users is probably the bare minimum for statistical significance.

    I decided to install 18272 as dual boot on my 1809 laptop. I installed it fine, and I noticed there was no winre recovery partition created, even though plenty of space was allowed. The old winre was untouched.

    Ordinarily, I would not care except the new version of Macrium Reflect Free uses that partition when creating bootable image. I created an image from Macrium Reflect and it seem to pick up the 1809 winre and does not boot.

    I did a straight upgrade of 1809 instead (having done a full backup), and a new winre was recreated (and old one untouched), and a Macrium boot image created this time worked fine.

    There just does not seem to be any consistent logic on winre.wim creation. It seems to me there should be a matching winre per windows installation.
    FWIW....

    I have 5 "dual-boot" OS's on same SSD. MR is on all of them. I created the Rescue WinRE on the main 1803 OS only, using the 18272 data, and made my Rescue thumb, also. So, the WinRE Boot Menu option always points to the main OS.

    Windows Boot Loader
    -------------------
    identifier {4b8581d8-de36-11e8-b27d-3cf862d8cef2}
    device ramdisk=[C:]\boot\macrium\WinREFiles\media\sources\boot.wim,{ramdiskoptions}
    path \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi
    description Macrium Reflect System Recovery
    osdevice ramdisk=[C:]\boot\macrium\WinREFiles\media\sources\boot.wim,{ramdiskoptions}
    systemroot \Windows
    detecthal Yes
    winpe Yes

    And I do not create any WinRE on any of the others.

    This may be all wrong, but it works fine here.

    Of course the Roman Law "Murphus Maximus" always kicks in for me as I am always 100% of time in the bunch who do not get the new feature.

    I cannot see for the life of me why they do not roll this out to all Insiders.

    It makes no sense to flipping withhold it from 50% of Insiders. They just get half the potential feedback.

    It is obviously a sensible and useful option - who the hell is going to feedback and say feature should be dropped.

    My theory is people who make such a ridiculous 50% decisions are HALF wits.
    Maybe because the way their luck's been running lately, they don't want to be inundated with bug reports!?

    Yeah you can turn your nauseous visually accuity enhancement mode off. I think it was when I turned off transparency effects (which I detest), and set my own pure black background.

    Only problem is I can barely see the white login screen against a black background with sufficient visual indication as I no longer have visual acuity and I click all over the screen. After trial and error, I worked out I had to cross my eyes to see it now. So I have inverse visual acuity now :-D.

    Hi there

    why is it one has to back as far as XP to get some sort of customiseable and decent menu system without those hideous tiles

    here's an XP VM running on the skippy build -- No tiles and 4 switchable Virtual desktops.

    @cereberus and others of like mind

    I hate that login screen too -- I'd take whoever designed that thing to the top of a tall building and make them lean over at an ever increasing angle !!!.

    I just wanted to clarify something because it seems that some still don't know (I'm not saying it's your case), mkuba50 is the developer of both, UUP Dump website and UUP Dump downloader and before that, he created the tool called "Miniserver-master" (now deprecated, in his own words), which existed for months before he develop the website, the reason for creating this new tool appears in this comment, the other tool he mentions there (UUPDL) is this one.
