After 2 hours and 1 mid install failure, 18267 is installed. During the first part, kept getting interrupted with a persistent MWB new update (3.6.1.2711) and McAfee WebAdvisor warnings about the download? Don't know where Webadvisor came from. Last build, I used Revo to uninstall it. After the uninstall ran all kinds of AV software etc. and they showed no trace. Only D/L in the past was Chrome browser, hope it did not ride in on that?
During disk system clean up noticed 952MB of System error memory dump files. This was a very fast clean up of the system files altogether. MR did an image without hesitation, unlike last time I tried it. Now on to exploring.
After using the patch for Macrium reflect I am able to backup with it, thanks to CallMeSteven and CountMike
But the whole idea of multilingual Windows is that I can choose both display language and input language. At the moment it's lottery, Windows randomly selects input language for each application, and when I then change it to my preferred one, I would expect it to be that one when application is used next time.
Anyone here running anything pre-Sandy Bridge? I know it's a long shot, but I wanted to know if the uCode updates are in this build for Spectre variants 2 and 4?
Also, anyone got Spectre variant 4 uCode updates on Sandy Bridge-Broadwell?
Those with Skylake and higher do you know if you are NOT UEFI patched and have the variant 4 uCode updates?
I also have a question about the Retpoline kernel. Does it require uCode or not?
Does it work on all the groups in the previous post? All the articles I read are unclear. I have no hardware other than Haswell and Broadwell both of which are now UEFI patched anyway.
My pc seems to have a problem with saving website favourites with this build. The save window is reluctant to open, and closes very fast when I try to save.
Having read about slow updating in this thread, I am surprised that my pc only took 20 minutes from restart.
Upadated without incident on Windows 10 Pro VM and working (rapidly) to update Windows 10 Enterprise VM. So far this Skip/Fast 18xxx build ring has no problems I can discern. Hope MS doesn't muck it up.
