Sorry guys, if I was not clear... long day yesterday for me too...

Dual booting... you said,if you want to boot to non default system it takes longer.. It's so because it will first boot to boot menu, change boot partition (user can or don't see that).

Instead of that, I'm changing default system. No extra time for restart in other system.
And I didn't have much time yesterday, so here we are on the 22nd . . . wow, time's flying.

What I meant is that whether I'm booting to the default (production) system or to the secondary system (Insider), IF I "take turn about", IOW, boot into production, close it down and boot into Insider, it will take longer to boot. The same thing happens when I close the Insider and boot into Production. No matter which system I boot to, if the other one was the last used, it takes longer to boot.

Put another way, if I'm in the Insider system (non-default), close down and boot back up to the Insider system, boot time is fast.

As I said, bootup time's not a major problem for me; I need to boot into each one for backup purposes. A Windows Guru helped me set my backups, so I'm not changing anything there.

And now I'm going to look at the alternatives posted, for learning purposes, if for nothing more.

EDIT: How long since they got rid of Superfetch? (service)
I don't see it in this build nor a friend sees in RS5...

EDIT2: Is it SysMain?? Why would they change the name of it.

This is from 1803. Always was Sysmain, just the display name was different. Now they match in 1809. Why??? Only the shadow knows, and MS...neither one is telling!

Yeah, I found out it manages the new Retpoline feature as well.

    Output from mach2 on Symbols.
    RetpolineByDefaultVelocity: 0
    # c:\symbols\sysmain.pdb\F004906AFF3DCC0632822C7C98186F741\sysmain.pdb

    Retpoline_Import_Linking: 0
    # c:\symbols\sysmain.pdb\F004906AFF3DCC0632822C7C98186F741\sysmain.pdb

    Retpoline_Support: 0
    # c:\symbols\sysmain.pdb\F004906AFF3DCC0632822C7C98186F741\sysmain.pdb
It looks for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management, FeatureSettings (DWORD).
The default value apparently being 0x400 (1024), previously being 0x800 (2048).

I have been unable to install build 18262 on my desktop system. It has failed repeatedly at, or just before, the reboot at around 30% upgrading. Once after the reboot. The only error shown is "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" Nothing to otherwise identify what caused the failure. That stop code seems to be related to drivers, but my system and app drivers are up-to-date (as far as I can tell.)
I downloaded the 18262 files from UUP MiniServer and created an ISO. Mounted that and ran setup. Result; fail at about the same point..
OK, I removed the SSD with Insider build 18234 and all my apps, mounted a new 500GB NVMe SSD, and installed 18262 from the USB drive where I had loaded the files I downloaded from UUP MiniServer. Seems to be working, but not many of my apps loaded yet.
I see that Disk Management shows just one partition, I thought I had asked for it to install the recovery partition. And the reserved partition showed in the disk display at the beginning of the installation. I do wonder if I have stored up trouble by installing directly from 18262. Any comments? They'll be welcomed.

Better post a picture of Disk management, you must have some other partitions too.

Better yet, Post a MiniTool (Partition Wizard) screenshot....more detail. And/or both.

While the 18262 installation was running without apparent issues I decided, before I spent too much time installing apps, that I would try a clean install of version 1803. The single partition on that new drive had me concerned.
This install went OK, and I joined the Insider program. But Disk Management only showed a single partition on that new drive. I had checked the BIOS; it is set for UEFI aware Windows. Searched for updates, there were several. Let them install, searched again, and was offered 18262. Let it go through its cycle of getting ready, downloading, installing. But when it got to 30% upgrading it crashed.

I have now clean installed 18262 again. While each time I have run the setup, a reserved partition has been shown, but that does not appear in Disk Management. Interestingly, there is a "Recovery" folder within C:\ Size is 366 MB. contains 3 files including the 372,616 KB Winre.wim
I have set up File Explorer to show hidden files. folders or drives, empty drives, all extensions, merge conflicts and protected OS files.

This is a screen grab from Disk Management in Attachment 209550

And a couple of grabs from MiniTool. This shows the 16MB "Reserved" (Other) partition. The MiniTool properties sheet show that as having no free space.

Your best bet would be ti install windows on M.2 drive while the other drive is disconnected. You'd be wasting a lot of performance otherwise.
