Tried two times through WU, failed both time after first reboot at 8%. tried from ISO, again failed at 8%.

    Attachment 208890

Time to rebuild a fresh deployment in Hyper-V, I think. Deploying a clean, fresh, custom image always works.
I installed using dism to a vhdx file creating dual boot option - worked first time. I created iso via adguard version of uupdump.

Both of mine went rather quickly with fewer reboots than usual. They did the initial restart and then rebooted at 64%, but that was it.

Updated from 18252 to 18262. Total time to update was 1 1/2 hours. I didn't time 18252 but it too took a long time to complete the update. I got a message during the update "Its taking a bit longer than expected. But we'll get there as fast as we can" on both updates.

My system is an i7 6700K with 16GB of RAM and a Samsung 840 EVO SSD (dedicated to the Insider versions). It dual boots with my "production" Win 10 Pro. The Insider version is relatively "vanilla". The only apps installed are Office 365, my recording studio DAW (Cakewalk (Sonar) by Bandlab) and Macrium Reflect.

I have a "problem" that I've noticed on both 18252 and now 18262 on the log in screen. There is no background picture, just a blur.

That's nice, but it's not what you're supposed to have to do.

I do it because it is quick and efficient. I install all new builds - I have a batch command that takes an iso, injects certain drivers, and then installs it to a virtual hard drive and creates a boot option, all at the click of a command file.

Native boot VHD is The Way to do dual / multi booting. Fast, easy, safe.

Three of my computers finally are up and running with 18262. All have had failures and reinstalls. The final one is going back to 'getting things ready' and going all the way to ready to restart the gave a failure flag. So its still working away.

18262 failed to install twice, GSOD at 30% upgrading, with IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error message. No identification of what caused the error. Reverted to 18252 successfully. I did not shutdown Vipre AV or Malwarebytes. (I take the view that the vast majority of non-Insider users would not shutdown such.) No time now to try anything else, maybe tomorrow

    Well, I am done!

It took a long 70 minutes but, without any dirty business.
As someone else mentioned about less reboots, in my case it did the same 3 reboots.

    But:-

    - It hung at 42% (Working on Updates) for 20 minutes...
    - Then it went up to 52% for about a minute...
    - And came down to 43% for another minute...
    - Jumped up to 53% and kept rolling to the end.

    Really! What is that?
