It's pointless you all saying that you've got tiny W10 installs. That was my point. W7 was larger footprint than W10.

I actually think Microsoft went backwards with W10. W8.1 was the sweetspot but I couldn't refuse the update offer, no premature EOL. I think W10 will sail past 2023 but it will be a different animal when W7 actually EOLs

The 'Home for Games' version, should have the option to delay updates. In fact game players need a much faster machine than many professional users.

Why should a business user have games on their PC. This reduces office efficiency and the need for tech support to remove them.

Why shouldn't a business user use Enterprise? Pro is a poor man's OS, there's the real fluff of the issue.

MS gives zero ***** to those with no bucks.

You REMOVE things you do not need or want. There's a lot less of a headache in just IGNORING what you don't use. MS will get the same telemetry from us both, just I spend more time actually using the machine.

Notwithstanding, W7 is bigger footprint than W10, W10 performs better than W7. I agree with you.

We have fundamentally different approaches about installing an OS. You take an axe to yours, I like vanilla. It's been proven time and again with every MS OS; you take bits out or try to 'cripple' or "shut it up" and it may well behave unexpectedly. That's the reasoning behind my approach. Change only what you need, not what you don't need.

Of course you can. It is the same as ever. Make a small file that runs all the regedit changes you want.

Some of your changes stick around after an upgrade, some don't. I find it easier to bang the whole lot in even if (which may be the case) some of the old ones don't do nothing no more.

I've never had to remove old ones - they just stop working.

It's a fundamentally differing approach is all. You're welcome to do all the tinkering you like.

I don't have the inclination each feature upgrade to do any of it because it seems like there's enough to keep your eye on with them changing preferences you may have actually set.
