KB4467228 Windows 10 October 2018 Update Build 17763.17 to Insiders Insider

The only problem I'm having is (sigh) my overclocking. It's a wonderful feeling to have built this nice water-cooled rig so I can run at default speeds ... do they plan to fix this?

I believe someone mentioned something about a tool or a code to revert the microcode from Intel, because it affects the overclocking on some Haswell and Broadwell systems. The 1809 update have that microcode included. I can't find that comment though. Or did you try it and it didn't work out?

As I understood one of the three scenarios in the 1st post, redirecting your Documents/Pictures/etc to a different folder or drive was part of the cause of the problem in some cases? Although it seems it was any files left behind which were the ones at risk.

The only thing I found was about an mcupdate.dll which was very confusing because a whole bunch of long names with mcupdate were to be found.

Well it looks pretty clear to me. If you moved any or all of the resident sub folder ie: Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc. to another drive, but left residual files in the original location, and you installed 1809, you could possibly lose some of the those files !

Yes MS screwed up, and the jury is still not out if their current move will find any other Issues, I believe they have figured out that they need to further test any new Feature Update. Everybody (Insiders) here have stated that they did that in the past, but didn't on 1809. Hopefully no matter what pressure marketing places on the development teams, they will resist on releasing anything that hasn't been beta tested ! As a retired software developer, I remember many times Marketing wanted early releases (For what ever reason), I just always asked them if we could change the our customer support 800 # to a direct line to the director of Marketing ?

Try Inspectre and disabled both options, don't know if it will fix an issue but its an easy try.
