Not sure if this helps with the driver issues but on ALL my machines (Pro and Home) I set this in CP > Advanced System Settings
Takes you to System Properties, go to Hardware tab, Device Installation settings

I'm not sure IF this prevents driver updates but I certainly don't want "apps and custom icons" appearing willy nilly!

If/when I think I need to update drivers, I'll do it manually.

FYI...after a Feature Update, this setting will revert to "Yes (recommended)" Yet another thing that one needs to check after Feature Updates!

"If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4456655) will be offered to you automatically."

I did not get the SSU KB4456655 offered automatically nor did I install it manually and yet KB4462919 is installed and the PC is working normally with no errors in Device manager or anywhere else that I noticed. Should I manually install the SSU now, or l just ignore it ?

    Are you sure?
KB4456655 does NOT show anywhere in my "View Update History", but it does show in
CP > Programs and Features > Installed Updates as being installed in September.

And, if as you say, "KB4462919 is installed and the PC is working normally", then ignore it anyway.

OK, thanks. I had a look in the View Update History where it did not show up. I will have a look in Programs and Features as you suggested as soon as I start my Windows 10 PC ( I am on XP at the moment ).

    Kind regards.

edit: Yes, it did get installed just prior to KB4462919. Thanks; now I can rest easy!

You're welcome....but isn't this just another example of MS inconsistency? They could have put them in Update History under "other updates" but no...too easy for the consumer that way.....

Totally agree. It seems Windows 10 is keeping settings etc all over the place and unless you know where to look you totally miss them.

No, that's not possible. Other updates is ONLY for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, and ONLY that. If you think otherwise, then you should use another OS, easier for the consumer!!!!

These Microsoft guys are a joke! No common sense at all

Not sure if you're agreeing with me or having a go there @ddelo
But yes that's all that's in Other Updates - as the software removal tool is related to security, you'd have thought they would be better placed in Quality Updates really......

I totally agree with you 100%.
It seems that their life's goal is to make things difficult for us, despite the commonly known software development principal, that things should be easily accesible to the end user.
