    October 9, 2018 - KB4464330 (OS Build 17763.55)

Applies to: Windows 10, version 1809

    Improvements and fixes

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

    • Addresses an issue affecting group policy expiration where an incorrect timing calculation may prematurely remove profiles on devices subject to the "Delete user profiles older than a specified number of day.”
    • Security updates to Windows Kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Linux, Windows Wireless Networking, Windows MSXML, the Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows Peripherals, Microsoft Edge, Windows Media Player, and Internet Explorer.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, please refer to the Security Update Guide.

    Known issues in this update

    Symptom Workaround
[ADDED 11/8] After installing this update, some users cannot set Win32 program defaults for certain app and file type combinations using the Open with… command or Settings > Apps > Default apps.

In some cases, Microsoft Notepad or other Win32 programs cannot be set as the default.
In some cases, attempting to set application defaults again will succeed.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and estimates a solution will be available in late November 2018.

    How to get this update

    Before installing this update

Windows cumulative updates require that you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system beforeinstalling the latest cumulative update (LCU). This helps to mitigate potential issues while installing the LCU. For more information, see Servicing stack updates.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4465477) will be offered to you automatically. To get the stand-alone package for the latest SSU, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Just installed it. They haven't even fixed the wrong CPU percentages in Taskmanager, as well as the background process arrow glitch. What a shame. Something which is already fixed in the latest Insider build

Fixes the mechanism that would otherwise delete them. I don't know how this helps users who've already upgraded, but I suppose this same fix will be pushed to 1803 as well?
