    Hi folks

sounds great - but what are you actually running on that stuff

If you could provide me with an algorithm that predicts accurately next weeks Stock Market or Horse races and runs in seconds on the I9 then I'm all for it. !!!

I imagine though any sort of sensible AI etc will need a lot more processing than the i9 has -- we're getting there though.

Seriously folks I like modern technology but I think these sorts of processors are going way beyond what a typical user needs !!

Now spend that money on a 1000 TB (1 PB) small cheap SSD drive -- definitely interested !! Not sure if we've even got to affordable SSD's > 1TB yet so still ways to go on that one.

    Cheers

    I'm curious...

Is there an upgrade path from a Core i7-8700 processor on a Dell XPS SE Desktop to a Core i7-9700 series?

Shouldn't the 9700 be grouped with the i9s rather than the i7s.

I currently have the 6700k skylake so I assume I should upgrade to 9700k.
First Number is the Generation, so you have a 6th Generation CPU
Second number is the processor level, so 3 for i3, 5 for i5, 7 for i7, and 9 for i9
the last two numbers are versions, and letters indicate other versions.
    if there's a Y, in an i5 or i7, it's a Core M processor

    so all 9th gen i7 CPUs will start with a 97xx - i9 would be 99xx

one correction, was looking through some refurbished systems, and the second digit hasn't always been the same as the CPU type, but from what I can see it has been for a few generations at least.

Good question. Could someone answer that?
My config is not the same but at least a general rule will do.

    It was worth it
I finally got mine, and installed it last night in my ASUS Z370 Maximus X Hero board(it has really good VRM's for Z370's), overclocked it this morning, and.....
