It's to raise the input field in the visual hierarchy.

I have 2 HP desktop computers (8 years old) that lockup around 75% of the reboot after a Windows 10 version update; if I then remove the drives and put them in another PC, the update proceeds to completion and I can put the drives back. The machines work fine and have passed every test I can throw at them (MemTest and hard drive sector errors). This problem is seen on each end every Windows 10 version update for these two machines; my other machines have no such issue.

I imagine I am not the only one seeing this, and perhaps someone has a workaround?

I don’t have a solution but I have to commend you on your patience and dedication and your desire to update these two machines. That’s a formidable amount of work. Just out of curiosity, are these sata ii, iii or ata drives?

Yes...like the last two builds. Shame, but at least a backup can be done & restored. However, Paragon Backup works fine, including mounting drives. Took 1 hour 20 minutes for this update to complete.
Trying not to install another backup tool, using Macrium Clone instead.

No need to even bother having a lock screen pic anymore.
