Thanks, Fabler. I have a great or great great granfather who fought in that war. He was captured twice! But lived to tell the tale.

    Hi there

I think it's on BBC World as well freely available around the planet for those worrying about paying BBC (they have enough money anyway judging by what they pay their top people-- in any case I get it via SKY as I Have a subscription from ROI -- Republic of Ireland so can get UK BBC stuff as well as all Sat afternoon footie etc.

Like the butterfly especially in Dark November days / nights -- Nov is really worst month gf the year I think. .

    Cheers

So you begrudge the BBC for getting funding because they don't have a market economy model but are happy to pay a subscription to one that does?

    Hi there.

I think I pay enough taxes of one sort or another when I visit the UK and that money would never come back to me so it's going to the UK one way or another. People are getting services from UK with some of my money which I will never get so I don't have any problem with this. I imagine though SKY also has some arrangement with BBC to allow it to broadcast on the SKY's infrastructure.

    Cheers

Yep, the BBC pay the EPG charges to Sky to remain platform neutral. They also pay Freesat EPG charges (much lower) and actually lease the Astra transponder slots from SES.

    Hi folks

I use the SKY Q box - I think soon no dish needed any more - where I am we get over 1Gb/s internet anyway so good idea to eventually phase out domestic satellite dishes.

I read somewhere that with new 5G phone technology even fibre cable will become obsolete within a couple of years !!! amazing when a load of streets are dug up and the whole thing is already in sight of becoming obsolete.

Mind you with streaming of 4K and 8K UHD video content fast internet is essential -- also the carriers need to ensure that the whole service doesn't slow down when more than 3 people are using it when accessing that type of content!!!.

    Cheers

Encouraging people to watch BBC for free at the expense of those of us who pay for a license?

Love the Flanders theme... and the transparency.
BBC comes with my AT&T/DirecTV subscription, Dalchina.

    We are WAY off topic.

We really need some word from MS and info on Windows v1809 status soon. This silence is killing me.

Be careful of what you ask for. Me, after this FUBAR, I can wait a long time for whatever comes after what my system is running now.
